We do a contest focused on health where you get certain points for participating in certain things. So our office gets a point for each person who attends a seminar on health, goes on a group walk, drinks 8 glasses of water per day and eats 5 fruits and veggies. Your team also gets a point for each 10 minutes of exercise that you do that meets the requirements. And then they offer incentives if 80% of the team does it or get your numbers done at the health center, etc.

We had one at work, and we actually just completed it Monday, 12-16-13!! We started on October 2nd. It was a lot of fun, but we did not do it in teams, we just did it as individuals. I was the lucky one that won the pot at the end! I had lost 25 pounds, and the second runner up lost 17!

I participated in a company related weight loss contest many years before the BL was on TV. Our president started it because he was overweight himself. He ended up giving everyone who participated bonuses and the top team (out of four) was rewarded with additional gift cards. He was such a cool guy! It was lots of fun, as he was very involved in it himself.

I've never done one.
Our county has a winter challenge where you track your exercise and nutrition for 4 months. They give out monthly rewards and send out a health newsletter. It' s fun and easy.

Since I am running the contest I won't be participating and no, the losers have to live at work for the rest of their lives, lol!

Sounds like a great idea. Do you bully them into exercising until they're sick in their lunch breaks and after work like they do on the programme? (At least, they do in UK - don't know about US)

No, I've never done a weight loss contest with anyone but myself lol.

Sounds fun, though.

We used to do that at work. In high stress situations I lose little weight. So nobody wants me on their team.

It's like kickball all over again, walks away.

Not at work, but a gym that I used to belong to did this for several years.

The "winners" always gained back all of the weight before the next year's contest. They decided that encouraging fast weight-loss was unethical and stopped doing the contest.

So this year I volunteered to run the TBL contest at work; it'll run for nine weeks and we're doing it in teams. All participants pay $20 and the weight loss is measured by percentage to the teams overall starting weight. First place wins it all.

Anyone do one at work before?
