I LOVE tea! Trying different kinds is one of my special pleasures. I usually start the day with a cup or two of black tea; there are many different kinds. Then I switch to green tea, it has lots of health benefits. Both black and green teas are available in endless flavor additions you might like to try. Then in the evening I drink herbal teas; again the varieties available are mind boggling! I especially love red rooibos tea, or red bush tea, which I first tried after reading "The No.1 Ladies' Detective Agency" books (which are delightful!) by Alexander McCall Smith. For the original poster who said they were just beginning to try tea, I would encourage you to explore! There's a whole "world" to investigate!

The difference is in the caffeine--black tea has it, herbal tea generally does not...

Black tea/herbal tea/green tea are all basically a wash re: calories. But there is a significant difference in caffeine as well as purported health benefits and most importantly taste. Don't force yourself to drink something you don't like because it's on your menu. Try them out and see what you enjoy drinking. I like strong black iced tea and weak hot green tea, but I can't stand green tea iced or hot black tea. Go figure.

I'm not sure of your thoughts/ intake of caffeine, but black tea has caffeine in it, unless it is specifically decaf. Herbal teas generally do not have caffeine. I drink mostly herbal teas for this reason. There are also a lot of herbal teas that are fruity, which is a nice treat if you're trying to reduce the amount of sweets you eat.

They're pretty much the same. 2 cals and 1 carb. I don't record tea, it's a little unnecessary to obsess over a calorie or two, they're insignificant. You likely burn 2 calories making the tea.

I am new to drinking tea. Is Black tea the same as Herbal tea? I want to follow Spark as close as possible!
