I too sit at a desk all day, now that I have a job! You may want to try Chair Exercises! Especially on those days your find yourself just too pooped! Chair Exercises usually get me going and keep me moving. Plus the team is great!

I'll add the link here for you:

Hang in there! emoticon

I have been using Nicole's exercises from a chair. She does cardio, dumbbells and stretching.
On cold windy days, they are perfect over and over. Keep up the good progress!

I know what you mean about the gym. It took me a while to feel comfortable going. It's great that you own the fitness dvds. I've been wanting to try psx90 and insanity. Actually, the trainer at the gym I go to (I got a free session when I joined) recommended those! So, you are probably getting a better workout at home than some people get at a gym. I would recommend doing your workouts before or after work. Eventually, you might want to shop around for gyms, too. I get bored only working out at home, so I like to alternate gym days and home workout days. I also love taking walks on my lunch hour. It's a great way to get some fresh air and sun.

Do you get a lunch hour ? If so, take a 20-30 minute walk at lunch. Walking is not only great cardiovascular exercise, it's a great way to reduce stress too. Some days, we literally have to walk away from our desk to relieve the stress. So, why not take a lunch time walk around the neighborhood ?

Some other simple things you can do to make your day more active would be to take the stairs instead of the escalator. if you take an elevator, get off one or two floors before and walk up the stairs. if you take a bus or subway, get off one or two stops before and walk the extra way. if you drive to work, park your car at the far end of the lot and walk the extra way.

Every little bit really does make a difference. At home, get a set of resistance bands and do some strength training exercises while you watch your favorite TV show.

I would get up from your desk as much as you can. Instead of calling someone in the office walk over to them. If you are on the phone, stand up and talk. Drink lots of water. Good luck!

I would definitely make sure you get in a daily workout, but you CAN do many things at work like leg lifts as you sit at your desk, stretches at your desk, take extra bathroom breaks and you could do some simple exercises in the bathroom like squats, leg lifts, also if you can take a walk during your lunch that might help. Do you have a gym close to your work if you have a long lunch break? You will need to be creative.

I don't belong to a gym because I can't find one that makes me feel comfortable. I do own fitness videos (p90X and insanity) that has helped me over a year. I do want to belong to a gym but I feel like people are always "staring" at me like I don't belong there. I want to join one so bad, and I would love to run a marathon one day.

After a day at work I feel so sluggish and gross. How do you keep your energy level up after work?

I also sit at a desk all day. I try to get a good workout in at the gym either before or after work. Sometimes I also take a walk after lunch.

I have always been active all of my life and I just recently landed a full time job! I am so happy but the only thing that I hate is that I am in an office 8 hours everyday and I don't get to be as active as I once was! Can anyone out there give me some helpful hints and/or tips to keep my athletic body going after 8 hours of sitting at a desk!!!
