I love cheese - and as a vegetarian it is one of my sources of protein. But I know the days when I go over my calorie limit is when I have even just a few slices! Well done on giving it up. Next time I hit a plateau I will try that. I do now only try to get the strongest cheese so use much less....

When I first joined spark, I ate my regular diet for a week and tracked. I was stunned to see that it wasn't the occasional treat that was pushing my weight was all cheese and bread. I always had four or five kinds of cheese in the fridge and a few afternoons a week, I'd have a cheese plate for lunch which looked healthy with all the veggies but which contained 7 or 8 oz. of cheese along with a few hundred cals of crackers so I was hitting 1000 cals with my snack! My fave breakfast was roasted cheese or grilled cheese but I used thick raisin bread with it...the calorie count was unbelievable.

Today, I still have cheese a few times a week but I only buy it in 1 oz. portion control packs and I only eat 1. It's made a huge difference. I think cheese is one of those, we can fool ourselves into thinking its healthy things....they're the most dangerous :)

I love cheese to but have changed over to soy cheese. By not eating cheese I feel alot better; cheese always gave me a heavy feeling in my stomach. Good luck.

QUIXOTIA, that is simply amazing, isn't it? Wow. It's such an eye-opener to see a direct correlation between what we eat (or don't eat) and the scale.

I love it too, more than any other food. My problem with it is, if it's in the house I'll eat it. It's really the only food I don't have restraint with.

I actually got a little carried away eating it a few weeks ago and *gained* 2 lbs, ugh. But I think it's from the sodium, not the fat (I do buy lower fat cheese). My sodium was extremely high for that week and I think most was coming from the cheese which I was eating 2 servings of a day. So I cut back on the cheese (to 1 serving 3-4x a week, I love cheese and really don't want to give it up completely) and lost 3 lbs in 3 days of cutting back my sodium. Sodium makes you retain water like crazy and cheeses tend to be loaded with it.

I love it too but all that fat... it is not really worth it. When you are eating limited nuts you get far more nutrients in. Way to go! Congrats.

Cheese is my absolute weakness. I stopped eating it, as well as sweets, about two weeks ago. I've lost 3 pounds without changing anything else. So motivating!
