Glad u did the walking, but try like Covert Bailey says to do "wind sprints." Walk as fast as you can for 30 seconds, then recover by walking normal for 90 seconds. Repeat that pattern for the length of the walk. He says the body thinks "OMG, she is going to go FAST like this all the time, so I got to make more BUTTER BURNERS in the cells!" That is how you increase your metabolism as the body thinks you will keep going at full speed. So you get stronger faster.
Read the book "WHY WE GET FAT AND WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT" by Gary Taubes. I got it from the library and it has taught me so much about why with Metabolic Syndrome/Insulin Resistance I couldn't lose weight on a "low fat" diet.
I have just rejoined the site in an effort to lose weight. My husband is going in for bariatric surgery some time this yea/ He needs to lose a total of 150 at least to begin to become more healthy and active. So, as I need to be a support for him, I thought I would try and lose weight with him. So far this week, I have stayed within my calorie limits four out of six days. That's not so bad. I am still trying to figure out where I need to cut back and I know I have to add more veggies and fruits. I am walking every day for at least 30 minutes and am trying to increase the time every day. Today, I was surprised to learn I had walked for an hour while reading. Now, I need to increase my speed a little at a time until I can do my 15 minute one mile walk again.
