If you are trying to lose weight, like me, try to stay under 2000 mg as much as possible. Jllian Michaels says if you are trying to lose "vanity weight"- the last ten pounds or so, then it should be under 1000, which I found REALLY difficult.

Stay under 2500 mg per day--pretty easy if you 1. Don't add salt and 2. Don't eat ANY processed or premade food. Eat pure and healthy-you'll be fine.

2300 mg is about a teaspoon. some people can handle the consumption of more sodium than others.
I, too, track my intake as accurately as possible.
Elimination of processed foods seems to be one of the biggest keys in reducing sodium intake

Many foods naturally contain sodium especially meat and meat products. I tend to not place any salt in any of my food. Even the recipe calls for it. On the other hand there are sodium and sugar substitutes. It is best to do your research to find out which substitutes are derived from natural sources.

2300mg is on the nutrition tracker, but every body should be aware this isn't a good total if you suffer from any health conditions worsened by sodium, heart problems, blood pressure etc.
If you are average, no health problems, then 2300 is the upper end.

You can add sodium to your tracker. I'm trying to reduce my intake, but so far it's been really hard. I don't add salt to my meals, but sodium is in everything.
