I worked night for 6 years and managed to lose about 80 pounds while doing it.

I worked the 11pm - 7 am shift, went to college in the AM and slept after 2 pm.

Usually had a little something before work, light snack at first break (about 2 am), 4 am would usually be my biggest meal, then something smaller before bed.

Workouts were usually between 7-9 am and would have a protein snack after that.

It worked for me. I tried to treat my night schedule just like it was a day schedule.

I used to work at a pizzeria 5 p.m - 2 p.m. I ate breakfast at noon, and had lunch at 4 before going to work. I would have a snack at 8, and midnight, and then dinner at 3 a.m. after closing down the store. During this I lost over 100 lbs. It just takes a little planning.

Your body has no idea when you should be eating. All that matters is what you eat in a 24 hour period. So a meal plan from 8 a.m - 10 p.m, is no different from one that is 2 p.m - 4 a.m.

I work variable shifts including but not limited to 3rd shift. I'm not a morning person so when I work 1st shift (8a - 5p) or morning swing shift (5a -2p) I start with a small meal usually oatmeal with fruit and continue to eat small 200 - 300 cal. meals every 3 hrs. or so (total 5 or 6 meals) then work out after work. Afternoon swing (3p - 11p) or 3rd shift (midnight - 8a) are usually busier so I have a small snack when I wake up, workout, then eat my largest meal of the day before work. I'll eat a mid size meal in the middle of my shift (hopefully!) then a small meal when I get home.

I work second shift 3 pm-11 pm I eat my main meal at noon then @ work I have healthy snacks or a portein shake for breaks and something light like soup for lunch, when I get home I'm hungry so I have yogurt or a jello cup.

I work night shift too and I just try to bring lots of fruit and yogurt because I do snack at work out of boredom.

I work 7-7 (over night)

14:00 - Breakfast
17:00 - workout
19:00 - post workout snack
21:30 - small "lunch"
23:58 - small snack
3:00 - small "dinner"
8:00 - bed

It seems to be working well for me. I suggest playing around a little bit to see what works best for you. The only thing I can stress is not letting yourself get too hungry while you are at work overnight. I know I have in the past, and that leads to eating junk from the vending machines!

Is this new for you? I work 7 on, 7 off overnights (10hr shifts). I sleep from about 7:30am to 2 or 3, have a carb/protein comb. snack then work out. After workout, I have a mini-meal (something like a grilled chicken breast and veggie). I have a small dinner with my family about 7pm, then try to eat my "real dinner" around midnight. Then I just have a few smaller, healthy snacks throughout the rest of the night. It works well for me, but I've been doing it for a while. Good luck!!!! You'll figure it out!

I am trying to figure out my eating schedule. Right now I'm trying to eat breakfast when I get home from work. Then I will eat a light snack ie. Yogurt or cheese n apples, while my family has dinner and then at work I bring what they had for dinner. I'm not sure if this is going to be a good idea or not.
