Are you living in a place where you can shovel? I live in the northeast and we live in a house and for the first time in my life, I actually look forward to snow! Well, I don't in March but I just look at it like 'I can finally exercise!' I'm lucky enough to live next to the cemetery so I can just go over there for a walk. When I am really bored, I move snow from one pile to another; let's just say that my plow guy doesn't do a great job so my efforts aren't wasted.
I take it one day at a time. I find it helpful to make a little plan one day ahead of time. I check the weather; if it's supposed to be bad, I go on Youtube and find a bellydance video and plan it for that day. Of course if I wake up and the weather is fine, I go out and do my walk, and vice versa.
Some days I'm just like 'forget it!' but I don't let it go more than one day. I keep telling myself to remember how I feel when I don't exercise. I also tell myself that beach weather is coming and I want to feel comfortable in shorts (I wore pants for 8 years because I was uncomfortable, which made it worse when it was super hot!). I don't have to look good-I just want to be comfy.
I would recommend that you spend a few minutes stretching and listen to upbeat music. That usually helps with me. I love my music so that part is easy. Then either put in a DVD/Video or try a video on youtube for a few minutes. I know it can be hard to start, but once you get up and start, you will feel better. Even if it's for 5 minutes.

I have this same problem. I would rather be all bundled up inside watching a movie than having to exercise but it must be done. I have decided enough is enough. I have been a slacker for a large part of the winter. It is so rewarding making myself get up off the couch and going to exercise even if its house work or a DVD. It stinks making myself do it but when I am done I feel better and I am proud of myself. You can do it. I know its tough but it is so worth it when you have completed your workout

I hope your weather improves so you can get outside soon. I find that even if the weather stinks, bundling up and getting out for fresh air has an enormous impact on my mood, even if I have to force myself to do it, and even if I get soaked to the bone. Also, if I know a storm is coming that will keep me and my family in for the day, I'll pick out a new comfort-food recipe to try cooking during the storm to keep my focus on healthy eating. Other times I'll just crank up some good music and dance (and pray that no one EVER saw me) and regain some energy that way.
Hope the weather is better where you are and that you got your motivation back!

I have generally been doing pretty well with my nutrition and fitness plan. I go over my calories on occasion, but usually try to make up for it with extra exercise. However, the past week or so we have been bombarded with winter weather and have been largely confined inside for the past 4 of 6 days. For whatever reason, this has absolutely sapped my willpower and motivation to eat right and exercise. I have been craving junk food and comfort food like nothing else. I have no motivation to exercise whatsoever. Any outdoor exercise is out of the question at the moment, although when it clears a bit some sledding might be in order. I have some exercise videos and know I *should* be getting off my behind and doing them, but can't seem to beat the lethargy. Anyone else have the same issues? How do you deal with the winter blues?
