Carrots and beets go well in smoothies because they are a little sweet. I feel like spinach is by far the mildest vegetable, so I add 3 packed cups of spinach. Zucchini also works with sweet things- think zucchini bread. I use other things if i have them on hand, but my default is always a ton of spinach.

IMO, as you are using it as a meal replacement it should have a good macro-nutrient balance, in which case you're missing some fat from this recipe. Back when I was in the habit of making breakfast smoothies I would add creamed coconut or natural peanut butter as a source of healthy fat. I think flax oil might also be a reasonable choice. Due to it's flavor I avoided using olive oil but it might be best of all.
I've been wondering the same thing so I did some research! The "carrot cake smoothie" looked the most promising.
Ingredients: •3/4 cup baby food carrots •1/2 cup frozen pineapple chunks •1/3 cup pineapple coconut juice (such as RW Knudsen) •1/2 cup low-fat vanilla yogurt •1 Tbsp. sweetened flaked coconut •1 whole graham cracker •1-3 tsp. honey (depending on how sweet you like it) •1/2 cup ice
1.Place the carrots and pineapple chunks in the bottom of a blender, food processor or Vita Mix Blender.
2.Top with the juice. Add remaining ingredients in the order listed.
3.Puree until smooth and frosty, adding more ice if necessary to achieve a milkshake-like consistency.
My wife and I have been doing a smoothie every morning just about for the last 3 months. The recipe we use is the same I would say 95% of the time. I'm trying to get more out of it in regards to nutrition as too much of the same I'm sure isn't great but still better than the crap we used to eat.
3 Leafs of Kale a handful of spinach 20 blueberries 1 banana 4-6 strawberries 10-15 ounces of green tea 1 scoops of Visalis shake mix
I find this a lot easier than making breakfast as I can blend this in less than 10 minutes and drink it on my way to work. Sometimes I change it up and add carrots, cucumbers, oats or substitute some of the fruit for pineapple.
What I would like is to know what other vegetables do you use to get some extra nutrition in?
