Only when I was a child

I've sleepwalked both as a child and into my young adulthood. Have not done so in recent years.

I've tossed and turned and talked in my sleep since I was a kid. Never sleepwalking though. My parents figured that the part of my brain that supposed to shut off body movements during sleep never has really worked for me. Eh, no harm has come of it so I don't worry about it.

I've never been a sleepwalker. I sometimes talk in my sleep, but I've been told that it's unintelligible for which I'm very grateful. When I was a kid and teenager my brother actually did talk in his sleep and the things he said got him into a lot of trouble since he was lying to my mom while he was awake, but talked about the things he actually did while he was sleeping. I used to be a pretty busy sleeper-I moved all over the place the entire night. But that stopped when I had back surgery 2 years ago. Now I don't move at all. I'm a really light sleeper which might have something to do with never sleep walking. Someone told me a long time ago that it takes being in a really deep sleep before a person starts walking.

I always assumed that everyone talks in their sleep at least occasionally. It's far more common than sleepwalking. I apparently can tell people where to find lost objects if they ask me while I'm asleep. Family and roommates have all done it. I almost always answer, and I'm right at least 3/4 of the time.

I never sleepwalked, but I used to be a violent tosser-turner... so much that when sleeping over a friend's house on her couch, I rolled off and onto a couple of my other friends who were sleeping on the floor! Faaailll.

But I can relate to not outgrowing unpleasant childhood kinks--though I'd stand to do you one better on the gross factor... drooling in my sleep. Yeah. Like Homer Simpson. And I'm a girl. Have I grown to (kind of) laugh at myself over it? Sure. Do I have a boyfriend? Sure heck no.

I did as a kid and even into my early teens, but I don't think I have as an adult. Both my kids did as children too. My daughter still talks in her sleep, but I don't think she walks still. Not sure about my son.

I was wondering if any of you talked and walked in your sleep as a child and still do so today. I used to do both as a child and even into my teens (at least the talking part).

The last time I talked in my sleep, that I know about, was back in May. It was amusing to hear what I had said, even though it scared my roommate (had a roommate while on a temp job) until she remembered that I told her that I talked in my sleep. The crew leader was in the room next to us and she had heard me talk too, but only heard a few words, which were the ones that my roommate had not heard. Basically, there had been a couple of people out in the hallway making a lot of noise. I sat up in bed and said, loudly, "Hello. Hello." Then turned on my flashlight, pointing the light at my roommate (who was a bit groggy), said, "I thought I heard someone screaming," turned off my flashlight, and went back to sleep. Obviously, I don't remember any of it. But we all got a good laugh.

I know that I walk in my sleep, but I think I have only walked in my sleep 5 times since 2004. I say that because, 2x I woke up and I was standing up and was completely disoriented. Once, the door to the hall closet was open and I'd had a dream the night before that I had opened the front door and was talking to a neighbor. And 2x, I had moved things One was a foot stool that I moved from one side of the room to the other. The other time I put something in the dryer and couldn't find it until I went to put things in the dryer.

I guess, I am curious to know if anyone else does stuff like this. I know there is nothing wrong with me and that there are other adults that don't outgrow sleep walking and talking.
