I FINALLY did it!! Finally took 2 pics of myself in just my bra and undies...Ugh...I don't like what I see...Anyway, my fiance wants to work on building muscle so we took pics of each other. He'll take his weekly and I'll do mine after every 10-15 lbs or so. I just hope I can step in front of the camera again.

So glad that's over...

I can't bring myself to do pictures. My boyfriend was just messing around and filmed me for a minute when I got out of the car when I got home from work yesterday. I went inside and started sobbing. I have been so motivated this week, but I am not ready for any image capture of myself.

Besides pictures, I found it really motivating to put on a pair of jeans that I used to have to squeeze into, that are now too big on me. I don't wear them out, but if I'm in a mood to emotionally eat, I throw them on and ask myself if I really want to go back o barely fitting them.

Just another idea if you don't want to do the pic thing :)

I don't have a full length mirror either and i really don't like seeing the camera phone in the picture because I feel that distorts me further. I was at my chiro's office and had a friend snap one or two on my phone. Do I look at them? Not really. But i know they are there and if I want to compare before and afters i can. I am wearing my black leggings and an oversized t-shirt but i get the point.

I took photos of my whole body and put them all together, i then added my measurements and my weight at the time that i took those pictures. Every time i see them it reminds me of what im trying to avoid having for the rest of my life. I have a full length mirror but i actually didnt use it for those pictures. I actually put my phone in my helmet to keep it up and used the timer button. Funny thing to do but it worked.

I'm right there with COLDFY. I wrote this topic because I'm really curious to see how many Sparkers find success with picture motivation. But I'm REALLY having a hard time taking that first picture...let alone in my undies! You ladies are brave! I've lost 15 lbs, and although I feel it in my clothes, I don't see it. I'd like to. But again, we don't own a full lenth mirror. Maybe I'll just do it...I'll let you guys know how that goes :)

"Did you just bite the bullet and take one? Or did you work yourself up? Do you take them monthly or after a certain number of lbs lost? "

COLDFY - for me, when I started, I didnt' want to take any photos. But after about 2 months of losing weight, I was looking at digital photos and found one of my self way off in the background (at 245 lbs I always avoided photos) and it made me really curious. So I cropped it way down so it was just me, and had a friend take a photo of me wearing the same clothes. Then I compared them -- and I WAS HOOKED!! Ever since then, as long as I've actually been on track and not in la la land, I have been taking photos regularly. In the past (2006-2008) I would take them every 10 lbs. Now I take them every month (which is wayyyyyyyy less than 10 lbs). Just whatever you feel like is fine.

well I love pictures, but since I'm overweigth I usually think before having a picture taken, I usually plan on what too wear to a party, or things like that I didn't use to do before...

Just a note to COLDFY - never assume your partner knows what you're feeling.

I think a before and series of in progress pictures would help motivate me but I can't bring myself to take the first picture. I don't live near family any more and the thought of asking my partner to take one makes me feel sick (ridiculous I know). I've never told him precisly how unhappy I am, I just assume he knows.

I love progress photos! They are the best motivator. I do one every month (actually my husband does the photos since we don't have a full length mirror either). I don't post them on SP as they are in my underwear LOL but they are super motivating for me!! I highly recommend them. And I use to make them into side by side "collages" for a "before and after" comparison.

I had my last picture taken on January 1. I haven't taken another yet. I plan to take the next photo when I reach 230 pounds-my 100 pounds lost mark. I do it in my underwear, or in a bikini I have (the bikini itself is for motivation as I've never owned one before)

Thanks Ladies!! Maybe I'll give it a shot. How often do you take your pic? Once a month? Or maybe after so many pounds? I need all the motivation I can get :)

I definitely believe in the power of motivation through photographs. In fact, I carry my 'before' picture with me in my wallet. I actually had the pleasure of meeting a woman at Lane Bryant when I was returning my shoes. We started talking about health, and how the models are photoshopped, and anyway, it led to me telling my story of how I lost weight and am in the middle of a process. My sister opened her mouth and said I had a photo with me. I showed it to her.

I guess I don't mind having photos taken or being shown because that really isn't me anymore. Even the 'in progress' photos I take will one day not be me anymore either. Every day is a day further from that point. I'm the type that enjoys making lists, and having references though. I like to have a reminder of how far I've come, and deterrent of what point to never get to again.

My progress pictures are incredibly motivating for me. They're on my spark page, if you want to see them.

When I start getting down about my lack of progress, all I have to do is look at that old picture and know that I'm not like that anymore... nor will I ever be again.

Will they be motivating for you? I can't tell you that. We're all very different. But I say take them. You don't have to share them publicly, or with anyone at all. Hide them in a folder on your computer. But take them.

And later... you'll be stunned at the progress you've made. I know I am. :-)

I made the mistake of taking pictures of myself in front of a full mirror with my my ugliest "olga" undies and bra. My daughter was looking for a picture I had taken of a birthday cake and she saw my self portraits. Needless to say, I erased them so that wouldn't happen again!

I did not take pictures along the way. I only wanted to see myself as my healthy weight. I do believe it works for many to take pictures and I do enjoy seeing them.

My present message image is a self portrait taken of my window reflection. Not clear like a mirror but if you don't have a mirror it is an option. emoticon

I have read about people taking pictures of themselves as motivation. I have THOUGHT about trying this but I can't bring myself to do so. I don't even own a full length mirror so its hard for me to take full length pics of myself...Do you take self pictures as motivation?? Does it seem to work for you? Do you really see differences?
