If you eat processed foods, including meat, odds are there is a fair bit of salt in them (on probably not much good nutrition.) Sauces on pickles also often have a lot of salt. I suggest that you pay attention to the nutrition labels on bought food and try to avoid those with high sodium, fat, and/or sugar contents.

There is a lot of salt in bread and cheese and breakfast cereals so try to get the ones that are low in sodium or sodium free like Puffed rice and puffed wheat which are sodium free.

French Fries and fast foods are high in sodium... maybe try baked French fries. Pizza is high sodium, certain condiments, sausage, franks, bacon, ribs, some cottage cheese and even pasta.

Canned soups & spaghetti sauce are usually high in sodium.

Alot of chicken in America is pumped with sodium to make the chicken look plumper...check the lable...If the chicken that you buy has too much sodium, soak it in water overnight to pull some of the sodium out.

Salt can enhance the insulin response to carbohydrates. This is why sooo many people crave salty foods after eating a large carb rich meal.

1/2 Cup 80 Calories 3.5gr Fat 180 Sodium

Smuckers Low Sugar grape jelly
1 Tbs 25 calories, 6 carbs, 5 sugars, 0 Sodium

1 Chicken Leg is 80 calories, 1.5 fat, 45 sodium

1 Chicken Breast with skin 386 calories , 4.4.G fat , 64 sodium

1 Pork Chop 14 gr fat, 59 sodium

Just to name a few...check all lebels carefully.

There are two major sources of sodium, in my experience, and the stuff you put in your food has very little to do with it.

1) Restaurants. Eating out delivers a hellacious sodium punch. I balloon up like a blowfish every time I eat out.

2) Prepackaged foods. Anything in a box or pouch is going to have sodium. If it's canned, it can also be loaded with sodium.

To reduce it make your own. Go for stuff that has no nutrition label, and stick to the outer walls in the grocery store.

Besides not adding salt to your foods, the best way it to eat whole foods and cook yourself. Avoid processed, canned, and packaged foods that have a ton of salt.

I don't add extra salt to my food. It seems like there is a lot of salt in foods. Any advice or tips on eating less salt during the day. On my report I always go over on my salt intake.
