I know how you feel. I have the same issue. It is the only spot on my body that I haven't lost more than an inch from, and it is usually the last place I thin out, no matter what I've tried to "spot reduce" that area, it has never worked for me. So, just lots of patience and hard work, it will eventuallyyyy leave on its own.

Strength training like pump classes WILL help lean you out. remember 5lbs of muscle does not look the same as 5lbs of fat. I did Les Mills combat workout for 60 days and you can see big difference in my body even though I only lost 11 lbs. Take a look at my pics and you will see what I mean.

JUSTEATREALFOOD, your post is a bit misleading. :) I understood what you meant (that strengthening your body and eating right will lead to results) but the way you worded it, it could be taken to mean that exercises like squats will target those saddlebags, something we've all established isn't possible. Might want to be a bit clearer in your response!

Some really good exercises that will help you strengthen your lower body are;

Squats - working up to weighted, one legged and jumping
Split Squats - working up to weighted, one legged, jumping and walking lunges
Deadlifts - again working up to weighted and one legged
Step Ups - working up to weighted

If you can do more than 12 reps of any exercise, it's time to add some more weight. Do the above exercises while holding some dumbbells, a kettle bell or a sandbag.

By eating a whole foods based healthy diet and doing these exercises you should see the results you are looking for.

All the best to you.

You forgot about double arm table-pushaways, or single arm fridge door closes. emoticon

Seriously though, the original poster was right in their opening statement - you can't target where you lose weight from. And this includes saddlebags.

Combine cardio and strength training....with cardio first......eventually they will come off but you have to do both not just one or the other. Running, Swimming or Sprinning for the cardio

There is an effective saddlebags exercise called "fork putdowns" but I don't know any others.

Why would you ask the question when you already know the answer?

Question...Im going to bet you have a pretty lean tummy and limited fat on your upper body? Try and focus on the good bits until it all comes in line...people with apple shaped bodies would kill for the shape I suspect you have...

Yes, you really need to listen to yourself. "I know you can't, but how can you?" You know you can't. You said you can't.

Presumably you were just hoping that there might be an exception you weren't aware of. No, there isn't. You can't spot reduce. That means no exercises will specifically take fat away from the saddlebag area exactly.

Exercise in general helps, and so does fat loss in general, so watch your diet.

Make sure you include quality strength training for the area, but only as part of a whole-body strength routine. No special focus is required, nor would it actually help beyond normal whole-body strength training and general fat reduction.

You have already answered your own question.

"I know you cannot spot certain areas of your body, but what exercises would help me with saddlebags? "

Spot reducing would be doing certain exercises to reduce your saddlebags. Because fat loss is a total body process, you can't do specific exercises to target any part for fat loss.
