She's right you know...I know this from experience. In the past I thought I could prove everyone wrong and do it MY way. OBVIOUSLY less in means quicker weight loss, so you'd think. It starts out that way at 1st too. Then after a bit your body starts doing it's own thing. It has natural instincts that despite all logic, it just has it's own way of kicking into "survival" mode. Your body thinks you're starving and will convert your calories into fat and store it on you. You will instead be breaking down your muscle tissue over time. Our bodies haven't gotten the memo that we're no longer needing survival mode and that it's highly unlikely we will face situations that would allow us to starve. That is why you need at least 1200 calories a day, or if you workout a lot, you need to add the amount you burn on top of that.
All in all, if you eat less than 1200 a day, you'll be damaging your muscle tissues (which also help burn additional fat) AND after a while you'll be surprised to see a gain, and then more gain. Another reason fast weight loss is generally not permanent.
I got the same warning I'm giving you and I just rolled my eyes and did my own thing, but what I was told was true and in the end (and after MANY trial and errors) I came to find that everyone knew what they were talking about, and being healthy is by far the more important goal, NOT losing it fast.

There are so many great resources here! I recommend starting with the nutrition/food tracker because that is the key element in weight loss for most people. Then, once you're comfortable with tracking your food on a daily basis, start exploring more areas of this site. I still find something new here almost every day. By tracking everything since May 2011 and using the other features here to keep myself focused, I lost 90 pounds and have maintained that loss for almost a year now. It takes a little bit of time, but it is sooooo worth it!
p.s. I also think that 1000 calories sounds low. I would go with the numbers that the SP nutrition tracker recommends and only make adjustments if you run into issues or talk with a doctor.

Welcome! Definitely join some teams and get support through them. People here are very helpful!
But don't limit yourself to 1000 calories. Spark says a minimum of 1200 to keep your body going. Let the program work for you. Log all of your food and all of your fitness. It'll help you in the long run because you won't be hungry, you won't give up as easily, and you'll see results that last!

HI EVERYONE IM A NEW MEMBER OF SPARKPEOPLE ! I NEED TO LOSE ALOT OF WEIGHT AT LEAST 75 LBS AND I CAN USE ALL THE ENCOURAGEMENT ANYONE CAN GIVE ME ! IM TRYING TO EAT ONLY 1000 CALORIES A DAY !! LORD I NEED HELP WITH ALL OF THIS !! THANK AND HAVE A GREAT DAY .
