I have New Balance, and Saucony. The latter are my favorites.

I went to a running show store where they video taped me while I ran on a treadmill to see what sneaker would be best for my running style. I then tried on several brands. I settled with New Balance but I'm looking to but a pair of Saucony as my next investment. I say investment because they run between $105 and $130 a pair.

I'm curious if any of you use the same shoe for running and walking. And if you have, did you ever have any foot discomfort using walkers for running and/or runners for walking? Before my knees went belly-up, I use to jog fairly regularly.

I had bought several different brands specifically for running and not for wearing casually. I liked my Asics, Saucony, and Nike, all. After I began to have excruciating knee pain jogging/running, I switched to walking. But I continued to wear my running shoes, because two pairs of them were fairly new. It was not too long before I began to suffer foot discomfort, because my heel hits the surface much differently in walking than it did in jogging.

Once I switched to my New Balance cross trainers, the foot discomfort/pain disappeared.

Asics Gel-Nimbus 14 -- I go through 3 pairs at least per year.

I need extra support - so I always seemed to find New Balance worked best for me - but this time I tried Saucony at the suggestion of the foot specialist at the shoe store. Love them!

My feet are "broad 'n' odd," so New Balance always works! No particular style or model; I just shop until I find what works.

I usually buy New Balance because they fit my feet the best. But I always try on a few different brands to see if there's one I like better.

I also have the Reebok Ziglite shoes. I absolutely love them! I bought them because they were on sale and I'm poor but they have been fantastic! I've put almost 50 miles on dirt roads on them since I bought them 3 months ago and they still look almost new. They are super comfortable!

Just discovered Under Armour tennis shoes and they are by far the best walking shoes I've ever owned (they sell them as running shoes, I don't run)

Saucony for when I want an old-style padded shoe, after that I like any minimalist shoe with a totally flat sole.

If the shoe fits, I buy it. Over the years, I've worn New Balance, Asics, Reebok, Brooks, Nike, etc. Fit is more important to me than brand. Which is why I've tried so many different types of shoe. Because I have a wide foot, I have favored Asics. But, I try on a variety of shoe to see what fits best. My current running shoe is from Brooks.

What annoys me about manufacturers is that the do tend to radically change a particular model from year to year. I know I should buy more than one pair at a time, but that does get pricey when you pay for good quality shoes.

Dr. Scholl's Jennie (it's a minimalist shoe). Love 'em. Before that it was Reebok Runtones.

Never going back to over padded clunky 'running' shoes again!

I wear a neutral shoe and Asics seem to fit my feet best so I have Gel-?? shoes. I tried switching to other brands but the insoles just didn't fit my feet right in them so to Asics I have remained loyal (though not for trying).

I had some Asics Gel-type shoe previously, but they were worn out and I couldn't find them again.. Now I have a Saucony shoe for over-pronation. They are ok..

I absolutely love my Reebok Ziglite running shoes. They are light weight, comfortable, and have plenty of cushioning. My next pair of shoes that I will be buying are Asics. I work for a physical therapy clinic and my PT's are always recommending them. Some of them can be pretty pricey but I would say they are worth the money. I tried them on and I felt like they cushion in all the right spots.

I have been buying New Balance the last 5 years. I am not saying that NB is any better than any other brand. But several shoes ago (I buy around 2-3 pairs a year.), I bought New Balance cross-trainers (603, I think). I buy two pairs at a time and alternate them daily. After that model was phased out, 8 of my last 10 pairs have been wide NB 609 cross trainers. The exception was that I got a good deal on two pairs of 623's. However, I just bought 2 new pair of 609's, and, again, I am very pleased with them. I will slowly work them into my walking, avoiding blisters.

Ok. What is/are your favorite brand(s)? Style? Model? Do you try to buy the same model each time? Do you vary shoe company based on when you walk and when you run? Generally, what is your method for buying walking and/or running shoes for exercising?
