I find that their idea of low carb almost always varies from mine. It works better to just go a la carte, and put together your own dish by ordering some meat, and clearing everything off your plate but vegetables. I usually get them to give me a double helping of veggies, instead of rice/potatoes. Also ask about sauces, and make sure there is none. They have sugar probably.
Whenever I eat a " low carb " selection at a restaurant I stall, but putting together my own plate usually is not a problem. Almost every restaurant has meat or fish, and vegetables, so you can eat at them all, if you do it this way.

What I do is simply ask them to substitute the high carb stuff (e.g. potatoes, rice, etc.) for something else. I'll order meat or fish and then say something like ..."I know that is supposed to come with potatoes, but I am diabetic and really shouldn't eat those potatoes. Could you substitute ...(a green vegetable such as brocolli, green beans, or whatever else I see as a possibility on the menu.)?" They almost always say "yes."
My problem in restaurants if avoiding the bread on the table while we are waiting for our food.

Does anybody know of any good restaurants that offer low carb selections? I'm a diabetic and sometimes it's hard to find these! Thanks!
