Monopoly was definitely my favorite!!
I too remember Mouse Trap...that game was so frustrating sometimes though if the parts didn't fit together perfectly!

When I was very young I loved CandyLand and Mousetrap but then as I got older Monopoly and Easy Money were my faves. I did like Operation & Battleship too. Never much into cards until I got older & learned to play blackjack - still love to play blackjack. Yatzee was fun

Even though they scared the crap out of me when the buzzers would go off, I loved to play Operation and the one where you had to get the shapes in the right places before it popped up (I'm drawing a blank and can't think of the name right now). I love playing board games.

We would have Monopoly marathons with my cousins! We would play all night. It was so much fun. We also played Clue . These days games are all on line. I just don't see the fun in that.

My two brothers and I would play Monopoly on winter evenings after supper. My mom would still be at work (she had a beauty salon) and my dad would enjoy watching us play. He was a real neatnik but he let us keep it set up to continue the next day. Fun memory!

Me and my 3 brothers would always play Monopoly on rainy summer days. When my grandfather would come to visit from Nebraska, he always had a sock tied at the top and filled with nickels. We would play "skit" (a/k/a nickel knock, 31) with him while sitting on our screen porch on warm summer days. Great memories!

I long for the days when people were glued to the TV watching a CHESS match ! How did we go from Spasky-Fischer to the Kardashians ? *sigh*

Do dominos count ? I played dominos when I was a kid.

Spasky-Fischer Iceland match! I had a slip card read out of all of those game where you can replay all by yourself. It was awesome. I use to belong to the Pittsburgh Chess in the early 70's, love playing chess.

I used to play a French card game that was popular in the 70s called Mille Bournes. You're in a road race and the first driver to make it to 1000 miles won. That was a good game.

I also played the standards, Clue, Monopoly, Parcheesi (anyone ?), Trouble, Stratego, Risk, etc... I do remember Mystery Date. My friend had it. that was totally lame. ;)

I learned to play chess when I was 9. My brother taught me because we were watching the Boris Spasky - Bobby Fischer matches. I wasn't any good, but I knew the rules and how to play. I still play, but I prefer Backgammon.

Hands down alltime favourite was and still is Monopoly played with paper money, the old pieces.....we didn't have much money when I was growing up so we stayed home and played Monopoly and watched hockey on the one station on the TV that wasn't snow!

Now I would say playing scrabble as well as I taught my son how to spell playing scrabble!

KJ -- My brothers and I always wanted Rock Em Sock Em Robots but my Mom would not buy it due to the fact it was a two player game and there were three kids....she thought a real game of fisty cuffs would break out

As for favourite card game, my family and relatives are huge EUCHERE players so that would be the game for me!

Back in the stone age ... MONOPOLY and GO FISH
but the best games I've played as an adult always involved teams
TABOO tops the list.

TABOO always gets people laughing in my social circles. It's a great ice breaker.

I looooooooved the Candyland game. I now have no idea why.

And i always wanted the "action games" like Hungry Hungry Hippo or those rock-em-sock-em boxers... but alas, we never got those.

Of course Monopoly & Life but I ALWAYS wanted to play Mouse Trap! We couldn't afford it and my mom didn't like that there were too many intricate pieces involved, I was a messy kid, lol!
