Hi and welcome to Sparkpeople! It can be a bit overwhelming at first, but just explore and look around and you will eventually get used to it! And yes, please do ask any question you have and you will get a lot of help!
Go to SparkTeams and just browse the different interests. Maybe a team for your specific location, or your age, or pounds you want to lose would be fun. Or maybe you have a hobby or a pet that you would like to search for. There are many specific teams out there and they are a lot of fun to belong to. Some may be more active than others, so nothing wrong with joining several to find which ones you like.
Don't worry about the past. We can't change it, can't go back... so we have to learn from it and move on. If we let it bother us, we can't make any progress. You have made the decision to try again and that is all that matters! Give it all you got and don't look back!!

Hi!! I must say this website is almost overwhelming so I will probably be on every board asking questions. When I first clicked on Sparkpeople it actually showed that I was already a member...I went to my info and when I saw that I was about the same weight with the same goal I had in my mind I could have cried...it showed that I had originally joined almost 3 years ago. At first I felt totally defeated before I even started but then I realized it was that kind of thinking ( and quitting - I might add) that was the reason I was still overweight and so unhappy. I'm usually very upbeat and love to laugh and to make other people laugh..except when I think about my weight. So, since it is about 9:00 pm on a Sunday night I will put a little bit of my information and goals that I guess I should start with...Any suggestions on certain boards, articles, etc that you think would be helpful would be greatly appreciated.. Current Weight - 205 Goal Weight - 130 Height 5'1 Age - 49 Married w/2 children ages 32 and 19 Favorite Quote / Bible Verse - But God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and love, and a sound mind 2Timothy 1:7
I will drink at least 8 8 oz glasses of water each day this week I will track my food - This will really take some getting used to. I can tell I will need to measure it instead of guessing and since my husband does not like frozen meals alot I will have to learn to enter my recipe / ingredients for an accurate calorie count. Cooking is not one of my strong points so I will have to find easy recipes.
Sorry intro is so long ...I look forward to making friends and learning from all of you while I am on this journey :-)
