I am just using SP's #'s. I have to reset the calories manually, since as I extend the date out, the calories continued to climb. I reset it for a 20 lb loss, July 4th 2014, and it went UP.

I just think it is a glitch, and I will stick to 1500-1800. Plus keep doing the exercise. My weight loss will probably slow down soon.

If your walking isn't really all that challenging, it may be that the estimate for calories burned for that activity is just higher than really accurate.

My intermediate goal is to get to 199 from 235 today. I reset my date ( was 1/1/13 ), to April 1st, and got 2040 as my low on the range, so made it 7/4/13, and it went up to 2280.

I guess it is some glitch. I will stick to what I am eating. Hopefully if I reset it tomorrow, it will give me a correct range.

I can do 1500-1700, may have to set it manually. I also do my 90 minute walks because I have CHF, and besides a little pickup basketball, or bike riding, I can't really push myself enough to feel like I worked out in 45 mins. If it is too long, I could cut back on the time, and burn less calories, but I like walking.

Thanks for pointing out the date. I laughed a little when I saw that. Losing 36 lbs in 12 weeks would make it higher. I set the date before I took the summer off. Today I ate 1543 calories, and burned 635. I lost 1.2 lbs since yesterday, but still losing the weight I gained over the summer. I have lost 22 since Sept. 1st. I can't really eat much more, and a 90 minute walk daily doesn't seem like a lot of exercise. I would just feel more comfortable if it said I was in range calorically. I kind of figured over 2000 calories was wrong.

If you're getting 700 extra calories per day in your range than Becky gets with your stats, you may want to review your goals. You may not have the right goal date, or an accurate calories burned, or something like that.

Here is the calculation worksheet. Try working through it manually. Do you end up with 1700 or 2300 as a lower end figure?

Can you go mid-range-carb? If you go "off low carb" you put it back on but what if you were only "lowered carb" instead of "low carb"? Maybe adding another 50g of carbs daily will help you add a few more calories, whilst maintaining still a basically low carb lifestyle, and you'll still have "a limit" if that is helping you.

When I entered your info with a 2 pound weekly weight loss and 1000 calories burned weekly---I got a calorie range of 1520-1870. When I uped the calories burned through exercise to 3000---I still only got a calorie range of 1830-2180.

Burning 500 calories daily through exercise is a fairly large amount. Make sure you are changing it up --with different types of exercises, increasing weight, want to be near exhaustion in about 45 minutes.

I also suggest that you stick with about 1500-1700 calories daily---especially if the rest of your day is fairly sedentary.

How far out is your goal? I think it will add calories if you're losing faster than needed to meet your time goal. Maybe try setting the goal for sooner to see if that puts it back down to where you're wanting it?

I wish I had an answer but my range is 1200 to 1600 approximately. I eat low if I don't exercise and higher on days I exercise more but I am not a huge exercise person. Bad back. but would peanut butter help for calories ? I am losing about a pound a week and at this point in my life it is great as I always end up not sticking to healthy eating and exercising and I like you want to do it right this time. Good luck I bet some one will have the answer. This is a good site. Yes maybe it's off the range thing. Well keep up the good work and just wanted too let you know I can't help but was thinking some answer might just make you feel better. emoticon

I finally looked at my fitness tracker, and input my calories burned ( 3000 a week ). This reset the range of calories to 2,360-2,710 a day. I am 5'8" 236 lbs. I lost 145 on low carb, and gained back 40 this summer off of it. So for my diet, I plan on eating low carb, but be more strict. Over the summer, while not eating as strict, I did increase my exercise substantially, and now as I eat more strict, and continue with the same amount of exercise, I am losing a lot, quickly. In September I lost 17.2, and I lost a lb in the last 2 days, so 1/2 a lb a day right now.

The problem is I ate 1,1717 calories today, and burned 639. I can't physically eat much more than 1800 a day. Part of that is keeping below 40 grams of carbs a day, which keeps me from bingeing. I know I should be fine eating more, but I fail all the time if I go over.

I have tried adding olive oil to my diet, just to up my calories to this point, but don't want to make my dishes too greasy. I eat eggs, and a lb of meat a day, plus a bunch of vegetables. I may be able to add some nuts or cheese, but except in small quantities, they stall me out.

My question is: Should I cut out my exercise to lower my range, since I can't eat much more? Will exercising so much while behind on calories, be a benefit? I have considered that it may be one reason I do cheat sometimes.. being 800 calories short.

I have enjoyed walking 1-2 hours a day. It is relaxing. I also like losing 1/2 a lb a day, but the ultimate goal is being healthier. I am kind of stuck. Normal diets don't work for me, but on low carb, I can't eat any more. I am also wondering if the range is off, since 2,710 calories sounds way to big.

Or should I just ignore the calorie range?
