Of all the ways we're being "tricked" in to eating more in this day and age (fast food sizes doubling, misleading ads, "diet plans" of different shapes), a cute term to describe that someone's food intake is supporting two lives is pretty darn ok.

I have never known a pregnant woman to validly think "oh, before I could eat 1500 calories, and now I should eat 3000, because there's 2 of us!!!" Have you known people that LITERALLY thought they should double their intake?

Now I know where the vent came from. Today's feature article was "Getting Ready to Eat for Two."

I read the article and thought it gave sound advice. What is the issue that you have with this article?

I think she is just venting about the saying "Eating for Two" and what it infers. It's all in the interpretation of "Eating for Two". Some ladies think that's a free-for-all to eat whatever you want to eat. Some ladies think that it means to double the portions of what you are currently eating and then add lots of pickles and ice cream. (joking) Yes, you are "Eating for Two" but your baby certainly doesn't need the same amount of food you do.

To me the saying is meant to make you THINK about what you are putting in your body because your baby is going to get some of it too. Do you want to feed your baby greasy junk food or healthy food? Do you want to stuff yourself so much that most of it ends up on your hips and thighs or do you want to add just enough calories to keep you and your baby healthy.

Smart pregnant women will do their research before they start stuffing their face. I hope you are one of them.

Are you referring to a Sparkpeople article, something on our sister site--Babyfit, or what?

This is the worst title you can ever offer a pregnant fem. Do you know how many take this literally? They double the portions on everything!!!!!!!! How about eating for one and a lil bit....something, anything.....but not Eating for two...but hey, it helps sell diets later????? and exercise/workout routines?
