I know when I lost my nearly 40lbs years ago those last 5 were a killer....turned out I needed to up my cals by about 150/day or so and the last 5 finally came off. And I agree shake up your usual routine a bit.

You don't mention how well you "track" your nutrition. It is not enough that you make healthy choices in your plate, it is important to know quite accurately what your caloric intake is. Without that information, one can't know if one is still eating too many calories or may be too little calories.

If the tracking of the nutrition is not an issue, you need to change your workouts. Old workouts done for a long time give the impression of burning a ton of calories, yet they burn very little, because over time the body gets used to the exercise. Anytime you exercise, you need to feel the challenge. If it is too easy, then you won't burn a whole a lot, or you don't benefit from it a lot.

To rev up the metabolism, try strength training. Even strength training you may have to change your workouts to get to your goals, even when you are eating within your range. That is because human body adapts to any stimulus given sufficient time.

2 suggestions that have worked for me:
First, run your diet and exercise through Spark. You may need to increase your calories or if you haven't been tracking your intake may be eating more than you think.

Second, and most effective for me, is totally change your workout. Try biking, aerobics, weights or a boot camp. My calorie intake is usually good but it's easy to get too comfortable with an exercise plan and not work out as hard as when you started. Good will lose again!

Unfortunately, the closer you get to your goal, the harder the last few pounds come off. Are you doing cardio 3 times a week at least 30 min each time, and strength training? Also, I would like to stress that sometimes the scale doesn't reflect your weight loss, but your clothes will start fitting better or falling off. And, you will feel better mentally, physically and emotionally. Try not to get discouraged. Keep watching what you eat, making wise food choices, and continue to exercise at least 5 days a week. You can do this!! So glad that you lost 10 pounds so quickly! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Have you updated your goals here on Sparkpeople to reflect your current activity level and goals? Check your dates, and make sure your goals are still reasonable (if you have just 5 lbs to lose, then you'll be aiming for AT MOST about half a pound a week.)

How long has it been since you've lost weight?

I changed my eating habits starting the end of February. I cut out fast food and junk food, started seriously tracking food and staying in my suggested calorie range each day, and working out one hour at least four times a week. In my field of work, I'm also on my feet the whole 13 hours or so that I work. I drink at least 8 cups of water most days. When I eat out, I always replace French fries with a healthier alternative and choose things that aren't deep fried or in cream sauces. I eat a lot of seafood, vegetables, and Greek yogurt. For my workouts I do Pure Barre classes, sand volleyball, and the occasional run.

With all that being said, I lost ten pounds almost instantly. The next five pounds trickled off over the course of about a month. Now, I feel like I'm still working as hard making healthy diet choices and working out, but the scale is stuck. I've lost 15 pounds and my goal was at least 20. Any tips on how to get the numbers to start dropping, again?
