I never thought about the shoes I was wearing. I sometimes wear sneakers that are actually a bit old or sandals, since the weather is nicer now. I will have to try with some different shoes. I am actually in need of some new shoes. lol

The pain is in the back of my legs. I usually drink a lot of water throughout the day, but I don't bring any with me during the walk. Since the walk is only about 20 minutes, I wasn't really thinking that I could become dehydrated that quickly.

One thing that helped me was making sure my insoles had padding. I start having pain in my calves and lower when the insole is no longer offering the support I need. Just a thought. Hope you find an answer soon. Blessings on your journey

What are you wearing for shoes when you walk ? Are you wearing good shoes that support your feet ? If a person is going to walk, they should wear proper footwear. Wearing old shoes that have lost their support can cause all sorts of problems with a person's feet, ankles, calves and hip joints.

You say the pain is below your calves ? Does this mean you're feet or maybe your Achilles tendon is bothering you ? Your Achilles connects your calf muscle to the heel of your foot. If this is the case, you might be experiencing either a problem with your Achilles or maybe plantar fasciitis.

If the pain is along the front of your leg (opposite your calf), you could be experiencing shin splints. In which case, that article will help a lot.

These are just guesses. Because we aren't qualified to make a medical diagnosis. Your pain could be anything, but these are a few possible causes.

Is the pain in the front or the back? I would think possibly shin splints if its in the front but I am not sure if you mean that.

Do you wear the same shoes all the time? If you change shoes or go barefoot do you see a difference? You say 'legs' so I am assuming its on both legs, correct? Since you say it doesn't happen all the time is the something common to the times it does? The same shoes, or the same route walking perhaps? You said you think its below your calves,... is it in the back above your achilles and ankles? for me if I'm dehydrated I get almost crippling cramps there. If it is that my weight has never much affected it. I'm just throwing out a guess here based on my own experience but it sounds to me like that. Alcohol really exacerbates this for a lot of people I know so if you do have any be aware of this.

I don't know what is going on. I have pain that is pretty severe in my lower legs below my calves after I finish walking around the block. I go at a moderate pace with my dog and about halfway through the walk I get the pain. It doesn't happen all the time, but when it does, it doesn't go away until I sit down for at least 30 minutes. Nothing helps it and I went to the doctor once when it hurt like this for about a day, but that was when I weighed about 40 pounds more than I do now. I would appreciate any help with dealing with this problem or finding out what it is.
