Hell, Jenni !
Welcome to Spark People ! Yes, you've certainly faced a lot of adversity. But that doesn't mean you can't regain your health.
I give all new members one piece of advice and it's this,"Don't look at good health or weight loss with an all or nothing mentality". if the only healthy thing you did for yourself today was drink 8 glasses of water, that's still a step in the right direction. You've been through a lot. That's why you need to take things slowly. Don't try to do everything at once or you will end up frustrated.
Start by setting some simple goals first. Example, if you're not eating 6-9 servings of fresh fruit and veggies, set a goal to eat 2-3 servings each day for one week. If you're not drinking 8 glasses of water, set a goal to drink 2-3 glasses each day for one week. if you're not exercising, don't start with an hour a day, set a goal to take a 30 minute walk each day for one week.
Once you've achieved these goals. then you set new ones. And this is how we begin to create a healthier life for ourselves.
One small change CAN change your life !!
If you're having a bad day, feel free to post on the forums. The Spark community will support you when you need it.
Be patient with yourself and your body.

I'm so sorry for all you have been through - you are amazing to still be going strong. Sounds like you have a lot of support - just try to take it one day at a time
I am new to this site. Been lurking around for a little over a month. I have been excited about what this site can do for me, but sadly I am still struggling...
What I really need is people who have similar issues, a buddy or two to help support each other through this life transition of health and well being...
You see I am 43 years old, and I have some very significant health issues, that began almost 2 years ago. I have been blessed with a great family, friends and an amazing boyfriend. Unfortunately none of them really understand where I am or how I feel. Which is beginning to be very obvious...
Losing weight is merely a side effect of the real issue. I NEED TO GET HEALTHY, safely. You see I have had 6 heart surgeries in 18 months time, 6 stents, and open heart bypass surgery. Ive suffered a heart attack and have diabetes. I currently have rapid aggressive heart disease, small vessels desease and two more blockages, I have to pay attention too. My heart hurts all the time despite take 3 different meds to help eliviate the pain, not to mention the small pharmacy I take for the heart and diabetes.
Until October 2012, I had been a very healthy person, aside from an underactive thyroid, I was doing great. Then I began having severe chest pains, when I went to the hospital I learned I was diabetic and had major blockages, Over the next 12 months I had 4 more heart surgeries including the open heart bypass. The doctors said that should take care of things for a long while...
So I went back to work, I managed 4 hotels, been working in a hotel for nearly 25 years. Work was my life, I worked no less than 50 hours a week and usually a lot more. I loved it! But once I went back to work, it was only a couple months before I started having chest pains again :(, so in April I had another heart surgery, no stents this time but the news was just as bleak.
After discussing everything with my boyfriend who I live with, my parents and my doctors, it was determined that resigning from working was the best thing. My health was getting worse and the stress of work was actually accelerating the issues. My last day of working was May 1.
So here I am, disabled, unhealthy and fighting for my life. My goal is to find a way to beat all this. I cant stand not working, not feeling well all the time and generally not being healthy. It has caused me to become so depressed. I need someone who can really understand and help me keep my faith and hope. I need motivation and understanding.
I want to beat the diabetes, Get my heart healthy. And in time get my life back.
I am actually pretty smart about diet and exercise, I just don't seem to have the drive to push through.
