You took a great step forward by asking for help on this forum. So make today (or tomorrow) the first day of a new streak.... take some positive steps for the rest of this week: Plan your meals, schedule some exercise time, go shopping if you don't have healthy options at home.

I totally understand, LINDA! I had a terrible week at work last week and I totally took it out on myself. My "bad day" turned into a "bad week," and I am feeling the same frustration, anxiety, and general depression that you do.

To get out of my funk, I turned to my support system (aka my hubby). We talked about why we eat and what we eat and we discussed ways to make better choices in the future. My husband isn't on a diet, but he is super supportive of my weight-loss goals, so we talked openly about how I was upset with my weight and my food choices, and he made me feel validated. Do you have a good support system? Turn to them! Or turn here, where you have support from thousands of people!

Otherwise, I am just focusing on taking it one day at a time. Sometimes I even feel the need to take it one hour at a time! Today was OK--not perfect, but certainly not as bad as the past week--and I find a lot of solace in that.

I wish you the best of luck! You CAN do this!

I was just reading your post on the Woo Hoo forum from a couple weeks ago:

"Well I decided this is going to be my year, the year I get healthy, the year I get rid of my all or nothing atttitude. I won't lie, it's not an easy transition, I am an all or nothing person but I am learning and because of it I have lost 15 pounds since the beginning of this year !"

I always remind myself that there isn't an on and off switch on living a healthy lifestyle. As you said, it's not one big 'all or nothing'. I like to think of it as a series of tiny decisions, and each one can be made on its own. If you want to stop a nine day slide instead of making it ten, all you have to do is make the next decision you're faced with a positive one. If you're worried that you won't, you can force it right now: Go do something positive. Go get a glass of water, or go for a ten minute walk or enter what you're planning to eat for dinner in the food tracker.

Just put all those days behind you. You can't change the past, but you can influence and change the future. I've said this before,"don't look at good health or weight loss with an all or nothing mentality". You did the Walk Away the Pounds DVD. That might not seem like much, but it IS a step in the right direction.

Have you talked to your doctor about your depression ? If not, you should talk to your doctor. Depression can keep a person from losing weight and being healthy. So, if you haven't seen your doctor recently for a check up, it's time to go. They can help you if you give them a chance. don't be afraid to talk to your doctor.

I have been on a terrible eating binge now for 9 DAYS ..... I't all started a week ago Sunday with not having a good day, using food to compesate... I know, terrible idea. Well that one bad day turned into a bad week with one thing after another going wrong .... and of course I continue to use food to deal with everything. I had lost 17 lbs since the new year but I am sure I have put at least half of that back on in that short amount of time. Not much wonder considering the amount of food I've consumed recently. Wow, so angry with myself right now, I am trying to take some steps in the right direction though, I have done a Leslie Sansone workout which also discouraged me when I realized how bad shape I acutually am. I really struggled to get through a 1 mile workout although I did finish it. Going back to my weight losss group this week to face the scales, I know it won't be pretty but .... hopefully I pull myself out of this funk I'm in soon, got to stop this pity party and move on.
