It may be as you stated, stiff neck can be the result of a to flat pillow, I do agree with the others. This is not a medical site and if you headaches and stiff neck does not feel bettter in a few days, go to your doctor. Dont 'self diagnose on a medical site-go see your doctor!

You need to see a doctor if it continues.

AFTER you get checked out for any critical medical disfunction...

Did you start a strength routine? if so, get a qualified trainer to check your form for every exercise. Many exercises, done wrong, put extra stress on the neck, which, after all, has more 'stuff' in it than any other part of the body--it's the upper end of the spine. Muscles, nerves, all converge there. Incorrect form on any exercise, upper or lower body, can really cause problems.

If you were doing cardio, same thing applies. Swimming, for instance, unless you put your head under water, can stress the neck. Running or walking can too.

I hope you don't have a serious acute medical issue. If not, start figuring out what you might be doing that needs attention.

I've gotten stiff neck from sleeping on it wrong, tilting my head back too viciously while rinsing shampoo out of my hair, turning my head too quickly..

See a doctor or go to a emergency care facility....stiff neck accompanied with headache should be diagnosed and treated as early as possible..... especially if you have a fever.

Muscle spasms, fever, headache, sore throat, behavioral changes, stiff neck are symptoms of viral meningitis....Stiff neck, headache, high fever, confusion, etc. are the symptoms of bacterial meningitis.

Could be a tension headache but why chance is always best to seek professional medical help.

This site and our members aren't qualified to give you the type of medical advice that you need. An ongoing headache with a 2 day history, and causing neck stiffness really needs to be properly assessed by your Dr. He/she will be able to prescribe appropriately, whether it be certain exercises, or medication or both, or further investigations.

Good luck,

I don't mean to sound like an alarmist, but those are classic meningitis symptoms. There have been several big outbreaks this year, especially on college campuses.

Can you touch your chin to your chest? If not, or if it is very painful, you need to see a doctor ASAP.

I lost a sister to meningitis. One day she was fine and happy, an incredibly healthy, 19-year-old long-distance runner. The next day, she was dead.

For the last two days, I have been experiencing a headache and also a stiff neck. Could this be from overexercising or my new eating style. I was thinking the headache was a withdrawal symptom from the caffeine but the stiff neck? Help!!!!! emoticon
