I agree with all the other posters. Plus don't forget that muscle weighs more than fat!! If you are working out 5 days a week, your muscle mass is increasing which would keep the scale from moving. I try to look more at inches even tho I would love to be down to 130 (which as you can see is my goal) but I'll be happy if I lose the fat but don't drop a pound. :) Maybe try taking measurements if you don't already to help see inches as well as pounds.

Don't panic. This journey towards being healthier is going to have ups and downs.

If you are drinking more and being more hydrated, that will show up on the scale. But it doesn't mean that you have gained fat. It just means that your cells have more to work with.

You are right that any number of things can affect the number on the scale. Don't worry too much about it in the short term. Continue with healthy eating and exercise, and you will get results over time.

In addition the the other responses, I just want you to know you should be really proud of yourself.

That's really all. Not just for losing 3 lbs, but also for staying committed to being healthy.

Thanks, both of you. I feel much better now. I'm looking back at my first post and laughing a little bit at how much I freaked out.

I'm going to keep following my lifestyle diet and working out 5 days a week and just be more patient with it! Lol.

It's only been a week ! While a safe weekly weight loss would be 1-2 pounds per week, there will be weeks you don't lose. there will even be weeks you gain ! And that doesn't mean you're doing anything wrong. This isn't the Biggest Loser. the weight doesn't magically drop off the minute we decide we need to lose. Those types of dramatic losses are just not typical.

So, don't assume that something is wrong because the weight isn't coming off as fast as you'd like. Remember, you didn't gain the weight overnight, it's not coming off overnight. weight loss is a slow steady process that takes time.

Here's what I've learned from my own years of yo yo dieting,"the faster a person takes off the weight, the faster it packs back on". Take the weight off slowly and it will stay off.

The losses that you see in those grocery store fitness rags are not the norm. Most women DO NOT lose 10 pounds in 10 days or even 30 pounds in 30 days. a safe loss would be 1-2 pounds and not losing for a week or two or longer, really is perfectly normal.

You need to be more patient with your body. Change takes time.

Dong't panic! Know that weight loss is not always a linear process--in other words losing a steady amount week after week. There may be some weeks where you may lose, some you remain the same and some weeks where you gain, but it is what you see over a period of time that counts. And know too that there are so many uncontrollable factors that can affect our weight, but does not have anything to do with what we are doing.

Okay so my first week I lost 3 lbs but my second week I lost 0!

I'm trying not to panic here as I have several theories on why I haven't lost even 0.01 lb since my weigh-in last Thursday morning:

1) I had a lot to drink over the weekend
2) I weighed myself when my hair was still wet
3) I ate fast food Saturday night
4) Maybe since I didn't have that much weight to lose in the first place I hit my plateu early

Has anyone else here had similar problems?
