I have been walking and even taking the stairs, which is difficult for me. It's short walks, though, because I don't want to leave her alone too long. The cafeteria is actually in another building of the hospital so to eat I have to go down three flights of stairs and walk to the other building. It's a good incentive to exercise and not to overeat at the same time emoticon . I feel better today. My grandmother is coming in, and I was able to talk to my husband last night.

Wow... way to get started and see your possible future. I would recommend going for walks. Around the halls, anything. Drink water. Play games, chat. ANYTHING to get your mind off of it!

I am so proud of you for really watching your food intake now! My mom had a quad. bypass and my dad had type 2 diabetes. Yep, we inherit those genes!!! Don't give up! Skype with your hubby and children!!!

I'm new/returning to SparkPeople after several years of being away. I rejoined when I had to take my mom to ER for chest pains (after she'd already had two heart attacks), and I realized I was headed down the same path. So I began tracking my food and being careful of what I ate while at the hospital with her. It's 4 days later, and we're still at the hospital. She sleeps most of the time which leaves me to websurf or do sudoku. I'm bored out of my mind! And I miss my husband and kids. They've come to see me twice, but this evening I'm just really lonely. Everything in me wants to munch. I've always been an emotional eater, and this is really hard. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do in a hospital room to take my mind off of food?
