I liked intervals on the recumbent. 1 min as fast as I could, 1 min recovery and repeat. Made things more interesting

I get really bored inside on machines so I make up different interval challenges. This helps me keep focused and makes the time go by more quickly. I don't know how fit you are and what you can track on your bike. For example, you could go a slow speed for 1 minute, moderate speed for 2 minutes and then super fast for 30 seconds. You could go at a moderate pace and stick in tabata drills -- 20 seconds all out effort, 10 seconds rest for eight rounds -- after warm up, at midpoint and at the end. You could also play with resistance levels. I find intervals an excellent way to turn up the calorie burn.

Grab some weights and do some bicep curls, tricep kick outs, put the weight above your head and hold it, shoulder press.

Personally, I get bored just doing machines so, I sometimes incorporate some strength training between machine sessions. I'll do 10-15 minutes on a machine then several reps of a few different strength moves, then another machine session, then strength. Etc, etc, etc until I get a good workout in.

Hi, Sparkpeople!
I've reacquainted myself with the recumbent bike in the corner of my living room (took the boxes of photos and laundry off it, dusted it off and had my bottom say "hello!" to the seat) and was wondering what types of programs people like for the rb. My bike isn't very sophisticated or tech-complicated, so if you have a favorite routine, I'd like to hear about it and try to encorporate it into my regimen.
