BLEND for 30 seconds. Add ice. Re-cover and process on BLEND for 15 to 20
seconds or until mixture is smooth. Evenly pour into 2 glasses. Serve at once.

My and my kids favorite smoothie is a "green smoothie". In a blender put ice (1/4-1/2 cup) frozen fruit of choice, rice milk, 1 TBS flax meal, and 3-4 large handfuls of spinach. And blend! If needed, you can put in a spoonful orange juice concentrate and or a squirt of agave nectar for sweetness. We love it and it is good for you too!

Does anyone have a good replacement for bananas in smoothies? I am allergic to them and miss the texture frozen bananas add to shakes.

Thanks for posting this! I can't drink milk and hadn't even thought to use my rice milk in a smoothie! I'm definitely going to try to cocoa powder with almond extract idea!

put whatever fruit you like in blender with a handful of ice cubes. If you want a creamier sensation or look, add 2-3 tablespoons tofu. Extra protein, no fat, no dairy

There are so many non-dairy milks available now at most supermarkets. My favorites are almond milk and hemp milk (both in the unsweetened vanilla versions), but soy, rice, and coconut milk (not the canned kind you use for cooking) are good options as well; try them out and see which you like.

I'm mildly lactose intolerant, but I'm ok with yogurt. I also like to use lactose-free kefir.

...with berries, nut butters, herbs, etc. Unsweetened cocoa powder goes really well with almond extract or instant espresso powder, though you may want to use dutch-processed and/or a sweetener as it can get bitter.

Help, I am lactose intolerant, don't like bananas but love the idea of smoothies. I have used HMR chocolate mix with water. Any other ideas?
