The reason your program shows a more narrow range for protein, carbs and fat---is because you have chosen the diabetes program. For this program we use the more strict % guidelines by the American Diabetes Assocation being 50% carbs, 30% fat and 20% protein.
Our regular program is: 45-65% carb 20-35% fat 10-35% protein----which would then put the upper gram amount on a 1200-1550 calorie range to 136 grams of protein.
The protein range that you are sharing is in no way dangerous or inappropriate for the healthy adult.

Thanks so much for your response! I actually intended to include the range of my protein goal, but when I began to type my original message, I could not remember it, I was planning on checking back on my profile before I posted...but then I forgot to do it! My protein "range" is 60 to 78, and I cannot change it since I am using the diabetes management plan and they do not allow for any adjustments. The range that you report, up to 171 is VERY liberal, allowing for individual eating patterns. I agree that 171 is TOO high....and I have never gone over 90. I just find it counter productive to get a message from sparks that my protein is TOO HIGH (with an explanation of all the dangers of a diet too high in protein) for a daily total of 87! I will just ignore this feedback, but my question is WHAT is the rationale on the part of the dieticians to give that feedback?
Generally 60 is the low end of your range - there should also be a higher number that is the max end of your range. For example, my range for protein is 60-171, so I should eat a minimum of 60 grams, a maximum of 171 (though I've never gotten close to that!).
Are you seeing that range on your nutrition page? If you do not have such a range, it is possible you manually set the protein range (perhaps accidentally) to be so restrictive.

Although I have not been diagnosed as diabetic, I am following the diabetes meal plan, to address my prediabetic condition as I am trying to lose about 20 pounds. Cutting out refined carbs, and keeping a good balance between "good" fats, complex carbs and proteins has been wonderful for me! I am tracking my blood sugar and eating this way has kept my numbers in the 80s and 90s! However, as I track my daily food intake, I am finding that my goal range for protein is unnecessarily rigid. Even when keeping ALL other categories within range (calories/fats/carbs), I am consistently going OVER in protein by 10 to 20 grams per day (80 to 90 instead of the recommened 65). From my research, I do not see what harm it would do to consume up to 100 grams of protein daily. Why would I choose to replace these protein calories with fats or carbs, if I am already meeting the minimum for each of those categories? Please share the rationale for such a restricted protein goal. Thank you!
