Doesn't it feel great to be a GOOD INFLUENCE! I remember when I first started buying things like brown rice instead of white and whole wheat pasta instead of regular, my family complained. That was a couple of years ago. Now they complain if we DON'T have those things. One time I forgot to buy broccoli at the grocery store and my kids were like, "WHAT? No BROCCOLI? How COULD you?" LOL so yes, their habits have changed too.

Now I'm trying to convince my husband to switch from Jif peanut butter (which has hydrogenated vegetable oil and other bad stuff) to the organic, all natural almond butter that I eat. To me it tastes better now, it tastes like something "real" rather than this artificial texture that the Jif has.

I think that is wonderful - leading by example does seem to work. I never thought there would be a day when my family would want to eat a salad with there meal, let alone ask for more.

Good Job!

Wow. What a great inspiration you are! Not only by just eating great, but you are raising your sister. You are giving her a good life two-fold!

That's wonderful! It's a big connection for a teenager to make when they choose health versus junk food or just dieting to be thin. Good for her and you for providing such a good example!

emoticon My 16 year old sister that I'm raising knew that I was changing my habits into healthy ones. She thought I was going on a diet versus just eating healthy. She made a little jokes about how I was going to eat nasty foods. To her surprise, my food actually looked better than hers. She's 5'8 and a size 1. She said she wanted to eat like me and eat the same foods that I eat. I asked her why. She said because she wanted to be healthy and not get diabetes like some people do when they eat unhealthy. I was like wow. It's true to teach your family through example versus a lecture...
