Prayer helps me in time of need and in times of joy as well. I recognize that I am only human and willpower is not enough to carry me through my weight loss/healthy lifestyle journey. If I had absolute willpower, I would be able to journey alone. But I need help from other people and from my spirituality.
Here's some other things besides prayer that I do to try to keep motivation going:
Write in a journal
Write a gratitude list.
Write things I like about myself.
I read outloud in a mirror positive affirmations
I help others who are new or struggling.
I envision myself in a healthy body.
I keep a list of goals, daily, weekly, monthly, accompanied with rewards for completing goals. For weekly goal accomplishments, I get pedicure/manicure/eyebrow threading. For every 5 pounds lost, I cash in on something worth $50 (just got new Bose headphone earbuds for losing 10 pounds...and once for a 5 pound loss, i got a full body massage) . For long term goal, I'm taking a huge vacation. These rewards are all things that I love doing, but ordinarily wouldn't do them, so I've made them rewards for goal accomplishment.
I attend overeaters anonymous meetings (excellent social and spiritual suport for me, which for me is an absolutely necessary piece to the healthy lifestyle puzzle.) I can not and will not do it alone!
I view one success story on spark a day.
I watch motivational videos or read motivational articles.
There's so many things I do to keep my motivation going, i'm forgetting some of them, I'm sure. I didn't start out this way. I did a lot of reading and asked a lot of people about how to gain motivation. I slowly grabbed onto each tool of success one tool at a time, one day at a time.
Bless! Keep coming back!

Well done getting back on track! May was bad for me because I had a succession of viruses which left me too weak to exercise. In the end I started yoga, which I can do even when not fit. Try committing yourself to five minutes on the exercise bike. You may well find you then staynon it longer, but you dont have to....
First off... what's done is done. Second... for the upcoming days eat super healthy around the events. Third... next year eat super healthy around Mother's Day, your birthday and any other special holidays that come up.
That's what some of us do, who know we are going to eat treats on "special days."
Special days aren't going away, we're just getting better at managing them one meal/day at a time. Welcome to the club! It's doable.

I have got back to my tracking, and trying to remotivate on my exercising, it should be easier now that I am off work all summer! When I was using my bike I was losing fast but then just got so tired from work, I started just staring at it instead. Which is so dumb cause I know 15 minutes is all it would have took to make a difference. My goal date was originally April 4th but then moved it to the end of April and now trying to reach it by June 14th at least.

Thank you for advice. I have started tracking again, now I have to get back to exercising! I am off work for the summer so hoping to get a good routine going. I have an exercise bike in front of the television so I could ride while I watch, but instead I have stared at it saying to myself "Just get up and get on it, only 15 minutes will make a difference!" and I end up sitting there anyway. I was dropping weight fast when I used it so why is it so hard to do it??!!! The good thing is in summer I spend most my time outside in the yard and pool and don't seem to get hungry as much. I do drink alot of water already, its my favorite drink, but really need to get more veggies (I'm not a big fan) I have found ways to sneek them in other foods though so trying to get up to at least 4 fruit and veggies a day. Remotivating myself with the thoughts of looking good for the weddings! And you right my son is a sweetie!!! I just wished he'ld have bought me some flowers instead of choclate, lol.

May has been the same way for me, and then June 1 as well. I still have tracked though, because I needed those calories to be in my face. I did add in more strenuous exercise, so I didn't see as bad a result on the scale, but I know that the food intake is what matters most. I am pretty confident, though, that I can still make my goal weight by the time I originally thought. I just need to remember why I am doing this, and remember that NO food tastes as good as being fit and healthy feels.
I think you should start tracking right away- there are always going to be temptations, but it's good to have it in front of you.

I give all new members one piece of advice and it's this,"Don't look at good health or weight loss with an all or nothing mentality". If the only healthy thing you did for yourself today was drink 8 glasses of water, that's still a step in the right direction.
You can't change the past, but you can influence and change the future. Start with some simple changes first. Don't try to do everything at once or you will end up frustrated. Example, if you're not eating 6-9 servings of veggies, set a goal to eat 2-3 servings of fresh fruit and veggies for one week. If you're not drinking 8 glasses of water, set a goal to drink 2-4 glasses each day for one week. If you're not exercising, don't try to do an hour a day, set a goal to take a 30 minute walk each day for one week. Once you've achieved these goals, then you set new ones.
And that's how good health starts. It's not "all or nothing". One small change can change your life. Don't look back, look forward.

How about starting now? The longer you wait, the worse you feel. You can track today, you can make better choices today, and at all the special events in life. If you wait until you have no special events, aren't you waiting for your life to be over? or depressing? Pick yourself up now, and stop thinking of this as a "diet" and something to start when you have no challenges. You can eat smaller portions of the special foods you really want, fill your plate with salad and veggies at parties and events, skip those foods you really don't want/need, and generally make good choices, regardless of the circumstances. Beyond that, exercise. Not to the point of ridiculousness, but get moving. It will help you feel good and hopeful and positive.

I've gained weight back this month, ugh! Everything went downhill since Mother's Day. My son started it by bringing some awesome Kraft southwestern chicken, Coke and Turtle pie! Then on my birthday days later he brings me a huge bag of chocolate candy bars and m+ms, then add all the end of school parties and picnics. I stopped even logging in and recording stuff cuz it would have taken too long and been too depressing! June 1st was suppose to be my day to get back on track but forgot about a graduation party so guess it will be tomorrow! I will start off the week and my summer vacation on a positive note. I will just have to control myself at my 2 children's weddings this month, not going to be fun, DOUBLE UGH!!! Any words of advice out there?
