I'm in the last stages of a kitchen/dining room/bathroom renovation so being able to paint and do the final touches before the floors and countertops go in next week feels GREAT!! And having functioning plumbing downstairs will help too! LOL! Painting and making changes feels really good to me so I guess that's my de-stressor.

Thanks, these are good ideas!!
I do exercise regularly. I try to get to work about 5-10 minutes before time so I get can into "work mode".
I try not to let my mood dictate what I eat. I pack all of my food and usually decline ordering out so that my mood doesn't pick my food.
I know that most of it is out of my control. I try to stay organized and get things finished before I need them done if I can. But then there are people who need something done "yesterday" and I think it is more of their time management problems than mine but since I work there I end up with their problems-if that makes sense without being too specific. emoticon

Exercise. Stretching. Meditating for a moment or two on my "peaceful" place. Eliminating or reducing stressors (procrastination, getting out of an unhealthy work environment, clearing out clutter, etc.).

Learning a few techniques that can be applied ANYWHERE is the way to go.

* Posture - good posture helps to encourage correct breathing technique

* Good breathing technique helps to keep our body and brain well oxygenated which means we can focus better on what we need to which in turn can result in less stress

* When feeling tense, try clenching your jaw; hold it a few seconds, and then release it. Feel what happens at your temples. Most people under stress tend to clench their jaws. When you find you are doing this, you can apply this tense/relax/tense/relax technique.

* The same technique can work with all the muscles in our body. Start from the toes.

* Think about what the stress is. Is whatever is stressing you important? If not, try to let it go. Save your energy for the more important things in life.

* Ensure that when you are stressed you continue to eat a healthy, balanced diet with a variety of fruit/veges and lean protein in it. Good sustenance helps to give our body (and brain) the energy to deal with stressors thrown our way.

Hope that is some food for thought! :-)

While some workplace stress is normal, excessive stress can interfere with your productivity and impact your physical and emotional health. And your ability to deal with it can mean the difference between success or failure. You can’t control everything in your work environment, but that doesn’t mean you’re powerless—even when you’re stuck in a difficult situation. Finding ways to manage workplace stress isn’t about making huge changes or rethinking career ambitions, but rather about focusing on the one thing that’s always within your control: you.

What do you do to manage stress?
I am trying to work on a new thing each week and this week I want to find out techniques to reduce stress so I've been reading articles.
I guess my focus would be, what things one can do that don't involve much time or props. Like when your at work and can't exactly stop working and go somewhere to exercise, take a bath, call a friend ect.
