you can make a bunch of soups that are lower in calories. my tomato soup probably tops out at 300 calories or 1 cup.
you can make hummus in one too. depends on what you put in as to what you will get out.
Is it going to come with the cookbook? You may also be able to look on and get some recipe ideas there.

I lucked into a Vita-Mix 3600 on ebay. It is an older model with the stainless steel jar. I enjoy smoothies for lunch. I use greek yogurt or cottage cheese as a base, fiber one cereal, oats, or white beans for fiber, and usually kale. When my calorie budget allows, I use half a frozen banana, or some avocado.

I currently use a hamilton beach, but can't wait for the Vita-Mix. I'd appreciate some new ideas that don't call for protein powder. I'd like to keep the calorie count at 300 or less. I'm looking forward to using fresh veggies when they are in season. I'm feeling adventurous, and can't wait to try dandelion greens when they start popping up in the spring (I don't spray the yard).
