I strongly suggest that you talk with your Dr about how you feel, and how you have always felt. Ask for a referral to a Therapist to help you get through this. It is amazing at how wonderful they can be to cut through the rubbish and get to the route of the problem and work on building you up again.

I am really sorry that you are having difficulties getting work. Unfortunately that is global, and nothing too much that we as individuals can do about that, other than not take it personally and keep on looking. I don't know if you are doing this or have thought about it, but often, if a person does volunteer work, they find it easier to get into paid employment. There are a few reasons for that - one is that you are 'out there' amongst people who KNOW people and can give you the heads up on potential work. The other is that employers are more likely to employ someone IN employment, and volunteer work is STILL employment. It also shows that you are not a 'grab and take' person, but rather a 'giver' and that can definitely work in the employer's best interests! I can tell you quite honestly that volunteering helps with self-esteem issues, too!

I did volunteer work for many years and it DID help me get work. I was a First Responder.

First off you are not a loser. Have you talked to a doctor about being depressed? One thing that might help is writing down all of your accomplishments in a day. Even the silly mundane things like making the bed. At the end of the day look at your list and how much you've accomplished. You also might want to try some positive self talk. I think there are articles on Spark on it. Basically you change the way you talk about yourself and only say positive things.

God does not make junk. He makes beautiful people. He sees you struggling and sent you to a place where he knew you could get help or at least a boost. My dear, everyone feels this way at times in their lives. I know i certainly have. I wish just saying cheer up it does get better and God only gives you what you can handle may not be what you want to hear, but it is true.

Start with baby steps. Try to find things that make you smile-- a bird singing, a baby's laugh, a song on the radio, the sunshine. Look for the positive--again easier said than done.

You are not a loser and I will tell you that until I am blue in the face. If you feel so down about your weight-- do something about it. That is something that you have more control over. Hopefully the healthier eating and the exercise will start making you feel better. I know after a lovely dinner of veggie noodles and marinara sauce and a good intense workout I certainly feel better. Don't let your mind talk you out of it.

I’ve struggled with low self-esteem my entire life. Even when I was thin I never felt confident in myself. It doesn’t help that I’ve been looking for a job for over 9 months and haven’t found one yet. On top of that, I’m trying to stay motivated to lose the weight I’ve gained over the past few years. Although I feel depressed most days I still manage to drag myself to Zumba and try to at least be conscious of what I eat. I hate feeling like this. I already feel crappy about my weight and now no one will give me a job. I feel like a total loser.
