Losing weight now is the best thing you can do to help yourself get pregnant. Once you're pregnant... talk to your doctor. It's possible and healthy for most women in your weight range to gain no weight at all during pregnancy if you stay careful with food and incorporate low impact activity into your day.

A friend recently had a baby, she has long been obese, actually lost some weight during the first 2 trimesters, and ended up only gaining 4 pounds total by the end of the pregnancy. She had good prenatal care and was assured by her doctor that she was losing/maintaining at a good pace, and that it was ok due to how overweight she is.

Long story short, have a conversation with your doctor and see what they recommend, and if they think it's safe for you to lose - HOW to safely lose.

I agree with speaking with your doctor. S/he will be able to help you with the best method of action or refer you to an RD.

I can speak from my knowledge that losing weight during pregnancy is typically fine as long as you're not totally restricting calories. Being more active and eating healthier can lead to weight loss AND is a good thing for pregnancy!

talk to your doctor. they will have your medical history in front of them and be able to help guide you. because there isn't a one size fits all answer. so ask.

I lost about 8 pounds the first month I was pregnant with my daughter. Didn't know I was pregnant yet and I had started a new, physical job.

It's actual quite common and "normal" for a lot of women to lose weight in the first trimester... usually due to food aversions and morning sickness. It isn't considered "unsafe", however I wouldn't recommend actively trying to lose weight while knowing you are pregnant. Make sure you speak to your OBGYN or general practitioner to be on the safe side.

For people who are overweight it is not recommended to lose weight while pregnant. The guideline is to not gain any weight while pregnant. The baby's health comes first. Your weight loss will have to wait till after the baby comes.

I would be inclined to talk with your Dr about what you are wanting to do re weight loss and pregnancy. Ask for a referral to a Registered Dietitian who will be able to help you according to YOUR specific needs.

Good luck on all counts :-)

it IS recommended! It will increase your chances! You just want to make sure to eat healthy, and dont go to low. I would say eat at the top of your range every day, and take a prenatal vitamin!
