Yes I have osteoarthritis and it is very difficult to walk. I use a walker etc. but it really hurts. I am over 70, and I have lost down from 281. I have been as low as 217 just 8 months ago and have gained back to 240. It is very dis heartening. The truth is now I want to lose because I know it feels better without so much weight on my knees. When I was about 25 lbs lighter I had a lot more wrinkles, but I am not proud and I know I'm old, I may as well look my age.
Here in the Denver area there is a doctor advertising about a laser that helps with back pain. I have wondered if it would work for knees, but I have not followed up on it. So I know it is possible to lose w/o exercise, it takes a lot more discipline. I lost the weight doing a program called slimgenics.
I wish you lots of luck. I am doing a slow walk consistently for 10 minutes a day. It is supposed to get easier, and I want it to, but it is still really hard.

Hi and welcome. So glad you are here to make a change! Get familiar with everything here, make a sparkpage and then join some teams. Teams are good for motivation, support and accountability. Hi, new to this chat/website and always happy to find people to support each other on weight loss topics. I am about to turn 54 years old. I am married and do not have kids. I have severe back problems that started in my early 40's and did not come about due to weight problems. I was never thin, but was athletic, and a model in my teens and early twenties. Always exercised, rode horses and rode my bike for transportation as well as aerobics, until I twisted my spine up in a very harsh rip tide while body surfing in San Francisco. I had a back operation in 2001 and it went well, but my surgeon said I would have to have another in about ten years. Well it is over ten years now and my back has got to the point where I need strong pain meds,, pain patches, crutches and cannot walk for more than a half mile without causing a lot of pain . After I had my original back operation I was still pretty active, but not as much, and started to take "Meridia" to control my weight. That drug worked well for me, but they took it off the market a few years ago. I was on Phentermine two weeks ago, while waiting for my prescription for "Qysmia" to go through. I am now on the 5th day of it. I have not seem a lot of significant weight loss with this. I am also mixing in "Medifast", which I order online and mix in with some regular low fat food of my own. Since I started all of this two and half months ago I have lost ten pounds. Not a lot, but considering my age,and very little exercise, not too bad. I was wondering if anyone else is in this situation of being rather disabled physically but still trying to lose weight and are in their 50's or beyond?
