If I drink drinks with a lot of lemon juice in them, like lemonade, my teeth get sensitive after a few days. That's an awful lot of acid.

my doctor had me drink lemon water first thing in the morning. It wasn't for weight loss, it was to curb sugar addiction. I could only stand to do it for three days. the amount of lemon to water was a lot, but it did help me not consume a lot of refined sugar (this was just for me, don't know if it worked for others, but it did keep me off meds.)

Well, it would provide some Vitamin C. Sailors used to have lemon or lime juice mixed in with their rum ration to prevent scurvy, after all.

How much water is she adding the lemon juice to? If it's one glass, that could be awfully sour.

I read a lot about it a few years ago with people touting health benefits but then tried it and didn't like it. Like others I think mostly it's just flavour for the water ... but not one I like

Yeah what Becky said. It makes water taste nicer, and this may entice you to drink more water, which is generally a good thing, or to swap a higher calorie drink for lemon water, which is a great thing!

But lemon itself doesn't do anything miraculous in the body. Lemon water isn't any "better for you" than water without lemon and doesn't specifically help with weight loss or anything else.

Lemon water is a tasty way to stay hydrated. No more, no less. :) It won't "flush fat" nor anything else from your system; your body isn't a toilet, and it can't be flushed. If you enjoy it, and it helps you drink more water, go for it! But don't expect it to do more than help you stay hydrated.

A refreshing glass of water....but claims about added "health benefits" would be a stretch of the truth.

My friend drinks water with the juice of one lemon for health benefits. I've read some articles with some fantastic statements but don't know what to think. I guess it wouldn't hurt. Any comments?
