Thank you both, I am going to look at both of these suggestions. I just try so hard, with so little reward, and then I wonder if I want to live the rest of my life this way.

I usually go on a cleanse when I start to feel the way you do. Two weeks ago, I lost control, stopped exercising, ate lots of candy and ice cream and chocolate, then I gained to almost 200, and I have been working at getting under 200 for 3 months now. Wonderful how quickly the weight comes on, right??? (enter sarcasm here)

Any nutrition store will have it, and just get the green box. Follow the meal plan exactly. If you like cheese, it will let you eat cheese everyday. BUT STICK TO THE FOODS. Seriously, I'm now below the weight I was two weeks ago, then some!! I'm SO happy I got back on track. The meal plans in the package for 7 days is a suggestion, but I have been using different variations of the meals, and I can't believe how well balanced out the meals are, and I never go over my fat, carbs, or calories! I love it!

I love going on a cleanse because it forces me to get back on track again, then when I see results, it is very motivating. At the same time, it is not recommded to go on a cleanse more than twice a year, so read the label to be sure how often you can do it.

OOps, I didn't see that you're a vegetarian. I think they have vegetarian types too. On a few of the meals on the regular plan, there is only cheese, but I suppose you can substitute the lean meats with beans, grains, etc.

Sounds like you have a variety of things going on and perhaps if we try to break things down a little, we can find what might work for you. If you have a body type that needs more protein and less complex carbs -- your vegetarian eating plan might be part of the issue. Many people (myself included) needs to eat at the lower end of my carbohydrate recommendations (45% of total calories) to even have a chance. Vegetarian diets can make that difficult if careful planning isn't part of it.

Tanya, thank you for the information. The test was at Lifetime Fitness. It was a breathing test. I can't remember the details, but it spit out a meal plan, what I burn resting, etc. It gave me a breakdown of what I should eat, and from what groups; proteins, carbs, and fats.
I'll be honest, I am a vegetarian. I am lacking protein. There have been days where I stand in front of the pantry or refrigerator and just cry because I have no idea what to eat. I'll just take a sleeping pill and go to bed instead of making a decision.

Sorry you are having a "throw in the towel" kind of day. We all have them especially when we do everything right and don't get anywhere while we watch others enjoy what we can't and still see results. MANY people here can understand how that feels -- myself included. Here is one thing I know for sure. If you throw in the towel, you will gain weight, you will become less healthy and you will change your future in a way you may not like.

As I outline in this blog article --

One of the flaws with the tried and true HB equation is that is does not provide any calculated factors for body composition. Our body type is genetically determined and is not something we can change. However, it does affect the way our body uses nutrients. An ectomorphic body type tends to have a fast metabolism with a smaller body frame and has more difficulty building muscle. An endomorphic body type on the other hand tends to have a naturally lower metabolic rate but is able to build muscle more easily. When things are out of balance, an endomorph easily increases fat stores because of a larger number of fat cells. Fat is less metabolic than muscle and having more muscle mass will affect the energy you need and the energy you use even though it is not something that is included in the calculations. If you have a higher level of muscle, you will likely have higher energy needs than the equation will calculate.

You said that you had a test done by a nutritionist at a gym. What type of test? You said you know you only need 1200 calories -- how was that determined - a calculation? I would ask you to consider the idea that you are a dry sponge and that is why you eat a carb and gain weight and perhaps because of your body type, you might need more calories especially when you exercise. This blog will explain why.

Just something for you to consider. Sometimes trying a new approach can find the answers especially since finding what it right for your body is individual and usually found by trial and error.

I walk 10,000 steps 5 days a week. I eat very few processed foods. Well, I did. Yesterday I gained a pound, so I went crazy with candy. I adjusted my calories, then I adjusted them back. I've got about 45 pounds to lose. I am usually the one encouraging others, but today, I am down.
I cook my lunches the day before. I make healthy salads with cabbage and cauliflower. I don't bring micro meals. Honestly, can't remember when the last time I had a micro meal was. I work with people who eat sugary modified yogurt and micro meals and lose weight each week. I don't. I eat eggs and mayo made with grape-seed oil.
I do my walk away the pounds videos, with weights. I've had all my blood levels tested. No thyroid issues, no hormone issues.
Bottom line? If I put a carb in my mouth... I gain weight. If I eat more than 1,200 calories a day, I gain weight. Yes, I am eating enough calories. I had a test down at the gym by a nutritionist.
Long and short of it...I'm starting to look at clothes for plus sized women and going "that's not that bad, I don't need to lose weight." Look, I don't mind working for something. But when you work so hard everyday, and you don't make progress, you get frustrated....
Any advice?
