Juicing is awesome!!! I went back to this October of 2011 and lost 60 pounds in a year. BUT... as life can do sometimes... I got thrown a curve ball and became sole caregiver to my mother. The stress alone did me in and in six short months I had gained back 50 pounds. AAAAAGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!
There were other factors that contributed to this which are just not getting into because they make me very upset.

For me... juicing is the way to go!

I like carrot juice better than eating carrots. Well, I like cooked carrots, but raw carrots just require a ton of chewing and frankly I prefer my raw carrots in liquid form. Carrot juice has only 70 calories per 8 ounce serving though, so not a big deal.

i liked the different fruit juices but really took alot to get the vegies down. I prefer to just eat
my fruits and vegetables.

Dietician Becky Hand here on SP recommends no more than one glass of juice per day. Juice is great for you, but should not be your primary source of nutrients nor fruits and vegetables. Juice lacks much of the benefit of regular fruits (like fiber!).

Personally? I prefer to eat my calories, not drink them. Juice does nothing for my satiety, and I don't buy into the whole juice-as-miracle-cure that some would have it. If you;re going to have juice, though, it's probably better to make your own! No extras added for resale. ;)

I've started playing around with some juices and smoothies as a quick alternative for a heavier snack in the evenings. I have about 15 minutes between getting home from work and heading out for my run, so it's been a really convenient way to fuel myself (followed up by a lighter dinner post-run).

I prefer my fruits and vegetables in solid food form. It seems more like a meal than drinking juice. Also, I wouldn't buy a juicer that removes fiber.

I watched the documentary on Netflix "Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead" and that motivated me to get a juicer. I got a less expensive one than in the movie and have made a few juices so far. I actually like it. The mean green was a bit of an acquired taste but I got used to it. I would love to juice many times a day but with a busy schedule, it's hard. I know many people argue with the juicing thing but you have no idea how many fruits and vegetables you are putting in one juice, until you have to prep everything. It's so much!!

Are you trying to get extra servings of vegetables in by chance? Try this.. I make a regular fruit smoothie..strawberries..blueberries..pinea v8 juice..then i add a handful of cant even taste it and you get a serving of vegetables in. emoticon

I don't. I really like drinking water and eating fruit. I also need the fiber so no juice for me. Some of my friends love it!! I guess it is better than a milkshake. :)

I've never tried it, but I'd like to. A friend's parents juice their pears, which usually aren't super edible, and they make the best juice.

Drinking whole fruits and vegetables in the form of juice can be a great way to increase your fruit and vegetable intake especially if they are not your favorites. By using a high speed blender that allows you to liquify the entire fruit/vegetable including he important fibrous portions -- terrific! If you are using a juice extractor that discards all the pulp/fibrous portions of the fruits/veggies, that is not as healthy especially if you have any medical conditions that cause blood sugar control to be of concern. I occasionally make OJ with my juicer, but as a rule, would rather eat fruit than juice it. You definitely lose the fiber in fruit when you juice it - and it's not as filling as the actual fruit is.

I used to do it in the mornings and liked it...but got to be kind of a pain. Mostly prepping the produce, and cleaning the juicer.

Most days now I'd rather just make a smoothie in the blender or eat and extra serving of veggies later in the day.

I can see how it might be a good solution for people who don't like to eat veggies (or don't have the time or inclination to cook them). But there is no special advantage to eating a vegetable in juiced form, so I prefer to just eat 'em as is.

Honestly, I would probably have a hard time choking down a juice that was green.

I haven't tried it, am curious about it, but probably won't do it. My doctor has suggested 30 grams of fiber per day for me for medical reasons and I'm pretty sure juicing removes most of that.

I like it. I only drink one juice a day. I usually drink about 18 oz. of the Mean Green for lunch with an apple and banana. I like the juice, but I eat a regular balanced diet with the juice. I do not drink juice alone.
