Yes, definitely rest that injury - a knee is a complicated joint and is easily turned or twisted as you have found out. Rest and repair now and your body will thank you for it in the long run.
As people have mentioned running form, I would like to emphasise that point too.
I've been a treadmill runner for many years, but in the last 6 months or so have done all my running outside. And it is now that I've realised just how bad my form was.
I've made a conscious effort to improve my form, land correctly, keep my shoulders and arms relaxed, etc....and I have to say I've noticed a marked improvement in both my running and also how I feel afterwards. My legs feel worked but not in pain, my feet feel warm but not as if I've done any damage...... it's so nice to be able to go about my every day life and not feeling that ever-present constant niggling injury that had plagued me for so long.
Good luck with your knee healing - and when you do get back into it, take it steady for the first few times.
I never really tried running until I lost the first 100 lbs. Twisted the right knee and tried to keep up with the Cto5K until I got in to see the doctor and by then I'd done damage to the ligaments and had to start all over. Pretty bad. Rest.

Thanks everyone for the great advice, I'm going to rest up, I've tried ice and its not really doing a lot so I'm going to try some heat too, to see of that does anything. I'll rest up until it feels better, and good advice about trying some seated upper body, it will at least keep my mind set xx
Don't risk further injury by going jogging. Stay off that knee for now.
Maybe instead you could do a seated upper body ST workout?

Ice and rest it until the pain goes away and you see your doctor.

Hello, I recently started jogging, I've never really done it, and I've been going every other day for about 2 weeks. (I am doing the couch to 5k.) anyway, on my last day of week 2 I did something and twisted my knee slightly. I missed the next day of running as my knee was still hurting. I rested it as advised by my husband but still walked on it a bit as I didn't want it to freeze up. I'm supposed to go on a run today, but my knee is still in pain. When I walk, turn, bend, straighten it. I don't want to miss too many or I might not get back into it, but I don't want to injure myself more. I rang m drs but I can't get in til next week. Do you have any advice? Thanks guys x
