Yes, it is, I adopted a healthy lifestyle and never looked back. There was absolutely nothing fun about being an overweight, pre-diabetic 40 year old I eventually fought back. Heck if I have to grow old I am determined to do it in style. Now at fifty I feel better than I did in my 20's the next decade is going to be awesome...fight for what you want and don't stop until you get it. emoticon

Naturally thin? no. Active, healthy lifestyle? yes. I'm 57 and I am doing things now that I was too out of shape to do at 47 - my lost decade!

Great ideas. I started by just putting one foot in front of another for 5 minutes at a time all those years back. Do you have a link to do mountain climbers?

Absolutely! There's a difference between getting fit and becoming an athlete. Every time you walk around a few blocks, or do squats or crunches when the commercials come on your favourite tv program, you are getting fit. Just keep doing it. Increase the frequency and duration until you are doing 30 minutes 5x a week... you will feel th difference! You can do it!

I believe it is possible. My wife and I just went for a walk and I was telling her that I truly believe that I am going to lose the weight and keep it off this time. Then I started worrying about how much damage I've done by waiting until age 55 to get my act together. My wife pointed out that the past is past you can still make a positive difference in your life no matter what age you start at. Besides, she said, what's the alternative? At which point we both started laughing because we were walking through a cemetery.

I am living proof that it is possible. I lost 50 lbs. I went from a size 14-16 to a size 3-5 with good nutrition and working out. I lift weights 3 days a week and run or power walk 6 days a week. I am 55 years old. You can do this....

Of course it is possible! When I was turning 50, i told myself I was going to be in tip top shape to start off my 50's. I ate right, walked every day (1 to 2 miles) and stuck to it. Now I am 51 have gained just a little extra weight and am once again trying to get back into the groove! I have my daughters wedding coming up which is a great motivator. I have found just turning the corner and getting on board is the hardest part. Once I make the decision, I seem to get on a roll. You can do it, I am sure....Are you a private exerciser or do you like to buddy up with a friend? Find what works for you...One thing I know for sure.. you have to do both..exercise and eat right. One without the other does not work...Good Luck...

Happy birthday! I am 54--never really exercised till last year when I wanted to get into the dress I had found for my daughter's wedding. I went to the gym--did treadmill, tried the machines and finally started taking the personal trainer class. I still don't LIKE to exercise BUT I have lost 30 pounds in 2 years, 25 in the last 11 months. So--you CAN do it--but you have to push yourself a little, not just half-hearted.

Well I weighed over 280 at the most till 60 but over the years slowly have lost to get down to about 185. its slow but the exercise I do most of it my own ideas help me feel fitter.

My birthday is Friday and I'll be 52 years old. I've wasted the past year with a half hearted attempt at exercise. I really hate it. I see alot of women in their 50's who appear to be in good shape and wonder if they're just naturally thin or what they have to do to maintain their weight.
Is it possible to begin getting fit after 50?
