It is BAD STUFF ....... I agree w/ SUZIEQ.......... and it DOES trigger APPETITE big time ........... Plus my dentist once begged me to NEVER drink colas as for 1--they literally eat the enamel off teeth! .......... (who wants their teeth eroded and not only teeth ........... cola drinks erode BONE ................ the reason for osteoporosis.!!! ................. one more ............. My SIL at 50ish got pancreatitis and was hospitalized for several days. Later while not improved much at all .............. her Dr. asked her what she drank ...... and she admitted to a huge guzzler of a certain cola ............... and sometimes TWO. He said she could 'die early' if she did not knock it off ............ and drink WATER and nourish her body! ................. There really is nothing beneficial about the stuff ...... any of it ........
I think if you have to have soda that it is at least better than drinking a full sugar drink.

"Yes it is....the asperteme is the worst......you can google it and read articles on it."
Not everything you read on the Internet is true, whether you Google it, or not. Once I read between the lines of those articles, I have determined the authors are biased and do not have good research to show that aspertame is bad for you. I have been drinking at least one, or maybe two diet colas per day for over 30 years. I don't have headaches or other ailments. I'm only one person so I can't speak for the masses, but I don't believe the scare stories I have heard and read so far. It tastes good and is one treat that does not make me fat so I don't plan to give it up.

I saw a lot of news and researches said that diet cola is not good for health. But I still have them for some purpose. sometimes when I feel abdominal distension I will have one bottle for let gas thru that will makes me feel better.
Over indulgence of any beverage is bad for you. I think you need to limit your diet soda intake. I only drink a diet soda about once a month. I don't think one a month is going to hurt me. While low on calories, there is much debate about the benefits of the ingredients in diet sodas.

How thirsty are you? For every 12oz can of diet soda you drink you need double or triple of that in water to flush out the crap that is in the can. Diet soda also makes my leg swell. I fell down the stairs a few years ago and have a very bad bone bruise. There is nothing that can be done so I am just watching to make sure it doesn't get worse. But I find when I eat inflammatory foods and the biggest is diet soda my leg swells. When I drink plenty of water, eat more alkaline, and get good exercise and rest, my leg does not swell. In fact i could eat my plant based diet and have a can of diet stuff and my leg swells. Would rather just avoid the whole thing.
your question was it bad for you? If you are talking to me personally-- YES diet cola is bad for me.

Any cola is bad for me, my hands and ankles swell everytime I drink it.

I was absolutely addicted to Diet Dr. Pepper. I LOVED the stuff. Then I had several episodes of dizzyness and finally went to a Ear, Nose and Throat Doc.
He had me drastically reduce caffeine - only one cup of coffee per day and totally get of my beloved Diet Dr. Pepper. So I went cold turkey and now drink decaf iced tea.... So, in my case, yes, Diet Dr. Pepper was bad. All the dizzyness is gone now and I sleep better too!

Yes, it's addictive and causes inflammation in the frontal lobe, as well as destroys brain cells and causes most people to gain more weight than before they started drinking it. It's full of chemicals and causes a whole host of other health issues that I don't recall atm. Watch the documentary, "Food Matters".
Lucky for me, I have never liked any sort of pop.

I believe it is. I watched a program once which concluded that the sweet taste of the diet drink led our bodies to expect a a high calorie food and when the food didn't arrive this resulted in increased appetite and over eating. The people in the control group who had the diet cola ended up consuming more calories than the people who had the regular cola. You are better off just drinking water.
Cola-- regular or diet-- is bad for your tooth enamel. That's the only definitive health concern. It doesn't cause cancer, migraines, or any of those things. There was a study that found that people who drink lots of diet soda tend to be heavier than those who don't, but the study said very clearly that it didn't mean diet soda consumption caused weight gain-- it's equally likely that weight gain makes people drink diet soda!
It has NO benefits, but it probably doesn't harm you. It's something you might want to quit eventually, but it doesn't need to be a high priority. If you're overweight and having a diet soda helps you avoid having a Twinkie or a regular soda, then it's probably best to quit diet soda *after* you get to or near to your goal weight. If you're already at a healthy weight and diet soda is your last bad habit, then yeah, do your teeth and your wallet a favor and do what you can to quit.
Diet soda is horrible for you - full of cancer causing chemicals. Ditch it and turn on the water.

I'm not going to claim that it is especially "good for you" but after reading every report I have come across, on just how bad it is for you, I believe the authors are biased and "believe" it is bad for you; the way I see it, they have poor evidence to prove it.
I have been drinking, on average, one to two cans (sometimes more) of diet cola every day for MANY years (probably about 30).
I am at my goal weight and have been for some time, so it does not "make me fat" nor does it make my waist expand. I don't often have headaches. I have low blood pressure and a low heart rate, and take NO medications. My doctors tell me that is rare for a 54 year old. I also don't drink alcohol or smoke. I am NOT going to give up my diet cola and I see no reason why I should.

From what I understand, the fake sweetener and the caramel color can cause some fairly serious health conditions, though I don't remember which ones. And some other part of the soda (carbon?) makes your skeleton weak. These things, of course, are only in high doses in lab rats. I am sorry I didn't pay that much attention to the studies, but I avoid all sodas, diet and not diet, so it wasn't that relevant to me. Basically it is just man-made chemicals going into your body and it can't do anything good. Hope this helps!

Most things I read lead me to believe it is. However, I have been unable to give it up. I rarely eat sweets. I believe I heard it contributes to belly fat. If I were sure that is true, I would make every effort to stop drinking it.
I love Diet Cherry Dr. Pepper and I have no cravings for sweets. In fact since I have been back to Spark People I have no eaten any candy. I did have a piece of Cheese cake and a home made chocolate chip cookie. But on a daily basis I can do without candy or sweets. My son has tried to get me to eat his candy and I have refused.

I personally don't like it because it makes me crave sweets and junk food. That is just me though, it doesn't do that to everyone.
