Well, all activity burns calories, so sitting in a sauna, infrared or otherwise, burns calories. But, I highly doubt the calorie claim. I would only count intentional exercise as exercise. And by intentional, I mean strength training with things like free weights, dumbbells, and bands; cardio that gets your heart pumping between 60% and 85%, and activities like yoga.
Ditto. A sauna is a nice thing, but you cannot burn fat by sitting in a sauna. You might lose water weight, but that's it.

We actually own a small one-person far infrared sauna - we purchased it a few years ago to help my husband detox from heavy metal toxicity. Infrared saunas offer tons of health benefits including detoxification, relaxation, lower blood pressure, anti-aging & skin purification, cell health, wound healing, improved circulation, pain relief, and they do claim that studies have shown that a 30 minutes infrared sauna session can burn upwards of 700 calories while you relax. Supposedly as the body works to cool itself, there is a substantial increase in heart rate, cardiac output and metabolic rate, causing the body to burn more calories. I can attest to the detoxification and some of the other claims. I haved used ours somewhat regularly for the past couple of years and I can attest to the fact that your heart rate does increase in this type of sauna (you will also sweat profusely which is good for you), but I don't believe I'm burning that many calories during a session (I'm sure I'm burning more than I would watching TV, but not 700) - my guess is you'd have to be very overweight in order to burn that many calories. However, infrared saunas are very different from steam saunas and I love ours - it helped my husband heal and it is very relaxing. Plus it feels great on a cold winter night! I believe they are very good for you, but not for the weight loss aspect - I'd give it a try.
Saunas are great for relaxing tired muscles, and are very relaxing.
But as for calorie burn - absolute BS. Saunas do NOT burn calories. Jockeys and fighters may use saunas to sweat off some water weight to meet a specific weigh-in target, but it goes straight back on as soon as they rehydrate.
I'd recommend getting the ZERO for one offer instead.
How can u lose calories from sitting in a sauna? Do you mean burn calories? Skip it. The only way to burn calories is to exercise. Any weight you lose in the sauna is water weight and will come back on once you rehydrate
My gym is having a special right now - a two for one for an infrared sauna. They say you can lose 700-800 calories. What do you think about the sauna? The infrared sauna? The calories loss? Accurate? Good or bad for you? Thanks for your input :)
