The same amount of calories & fat; the difference is going to be negligible. Maybe just buy reduced fat cheese. It's like water vs. ice; 8 oz of frozen water is still 8 oz of room temperature water.

melted cheese takes up more surface area than non-melted cheese
so, if you use less cheese to cover the same area then you would be saving fat and caloires, but if you are using the same amount, the difference would be very small.

If you took a large amount of cheese, melted it, and used cheeecloth or other thin cloth and drained out the fat, then weighed that fat, calculated the caloreic value of the fat at 9 calories per gram, then subtracted it from the overall caloric value of the cheese, then you'd have your answer,

So, knowing that fat has 9 calories per gram, you could also weigh your paper towel, and then dab your cheese, then weigh it again and figure out how many grams of fat you dabbed off.

I guess I would assume it would be 1-2 grams and subtract 15 calories.

I think it depends on the cheese. Not all cheeses get as greasy when melted. I think dabbing away the grease gets rid of some fat and calories, but I'm not sure how much or if there'd even be a reliable way to measure it.

As a fellow cheese addict I'm curious if anyone has actual information on this too!

I say it's the same whether it's melted or not. The amount of calories lost is so small that you're doing yourself a disservice by trying to trick your body.

Try to eat a cube of cheese, then have a celery stick, a carrot stick, and a handful of grapes before going for a second cube. I promise, you won't eat nearly as much cheese.

About the same. I wouldn't count on it being a substantial difference. Cheese doesn't separate the way other fats do.

I used to be a cheese addict. I'd eat a whole whack of cheese cubes and then be wishing for a grilled one. Today I ate some melted cheese and that got me thinking...

If there are 120 calories in 1.25" cubed then how many less calories are there in the same amount of melted cheese, after draining / dabbing off the fat? Google couldn't answer this, so... any guesses?
