Use ground turkey much like you would use ground beef

My husband hunts deer so we use ground venison quite often....I would imagine using ground turkey would be similar. Use it in anything and everything that you would usually use beef for. We use venison for chili, soups, spaghetti meat sauce, meatloaf, meatballs, tacos or burritos, hamburger helper, wrong way to do it!

combine some ranch dressing in the packet it makes the turkey not so dry and adds a good taste.

This is a delicious Sloppy Joes recipe I make all the time, and almost everyone has these ingredients at hand:

1/2 c. ketchup
1/4 c. water
2 tsp. Worcestershire
1/2 tsp. vinegar
1/2 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. onion powder
1 lb. ground turkey

Combine all the ingredients and simmer on top the stove until the turkey absorbs the barbecue flavors. You can add all kinds of things garlic, peppers, or liquid smoke if you have them, or just eat it as is on bread. Delicious and only about 145 calories per serving.

It also taste good as a substitute for ground pork as in Chinese dumplings, egg rolls, or won tons.

Jennie-O makes taco seasoned and Italian-seasoned ground turkey too. Just be careful with the fat content.

I just started dieting and I bought ground turkey for the first time. I had a little trouble cooking it because I wasn't used to the color and texture. I made taco meat (just add seasoning packet) it was wonderful! I made a burrito for my husband and he couldn't tell the difference. I told him it was (what he refers to as) "yard-bird", he just shrugged and said it wasn't bad. I plan to substitute ground turkey for ground beef in any recipe.

I also make meatloaf with ground turkey. Husband doesn't like it because the color is bland, not dark like beef. But then again he's extremely fussy.

Stir fry fresh or frozen asian veggies add cooked ground turkey and cooked brown rice. I add Thai seasoning and low sodium soy sauce. Yum.

I keep cooked ground turkey in freezer,i thaw it and add salsa to it for taco's or even add the mixture to lettuce cups.I also add it to pasta sauce and serve with zucchini noodles

I second the chili idea. Throw in a can of beans, seasoning, a can of crushed tomatoes, a bay leaf, some water, and cook it down for awhile. Yumm.

Thanks everyone. I really don't have any of that stuff in my house.

Usually I make meatloaf or meatballs with it, but I can't do that when it's already cooked and crumbled.

I ended up just dumping it in with a can of tomato sauce and calling it sloppy joes. My kid gobbled it up, along with some canned green beans and canteloupe.

Tacos. Actually any recipe that uses ground beef as long as there are other spices like onions, peppers, garlic, etc

What do you have? You can use it to replace almost anything with ground beef. Stroganoff, chili, you name it.

Or could do a sort of sloppy joe.... sorta like these, minus the cooking part of course, just mix w/ the sauce:

Would also be good mixed w/ italian seasoning and reheated in a red marinara sauce, to use with pasta.

I used ground turkey for lunch tossed in with some quinoa and feta cheese.

You could put it in some spaghetti sauce, on top of a salad, in a soup, in a stuffed portabello mushroom cap, spice it up for tacos, so many things!

So I had a pound of fresh lean ground turkey that wasn't going to keep much longer, so I had to cook it up. Now that it is cooked, I don't know what to do with it. I want to use it for dinner tonight, but I don't know how. It made about two cups crumbled.
