You should take a kettlebell class and then you might not say that. I would love to take a class. I have a 10 lb. Kettlebell and a dvd. But I want to learn more.

"While instructors are watching, people are just flinging them up and down. "

Oh my... you know NOTHING about kettlebells, do you?

You Tube or Google might better inform you on the subject.
I do hope you didn't say anything like that at the gym.... or people will think you are that crazy one....

Yep. Kettle bells are not the same as free weights and as such they're used in different ways. The first time I did kettle bell swings I about died the next day - I could hardly walk and it wasn't an injury. I did it with a personal trainer watching every move and correcting form where necessary. It's a different, very effective workout.

Try it, you might enjoy it.

Kettlebells are meant to be flung about. A common exercise is a kettlebell swing and can use single or both arms. It may look like they are being used with no control but you actually need serious control or risk hurting yourself.

They are not free weights. They provide a different way to strengthen your muscles and are a lot of fun.

I don't know what classes you are watching, but kettlebells used properly and with good form are an amazing type of exercise, worthy for most people to include in a workout. Have you actually tried using kettlebells yourself ? have you been shown how they should and can be used? emoticon

Sorry, this post shows that you know absolutely nothing about kettlebell training.

Don't knock something you don't know anything about.

Have a wonderful day!

My biggest pet peeve at the gym is watching someone do weights and not control them. My gym is now having these strength training classes that include kettle bells. While instructors are watching, people are just flinging them up and down. It is all about control - count to 10 going up and 10 going down. Get rid of the kettle bells and use a free weight.

Sorry I had to vent.
