Thanks everyone for the good advice. I stuck with working out and eating better and I got used to the site and tracking. I ended up losing about 25 pounds but gained about 6 back during the winter months. I'm working on changing that now! I have gotten a little better with cooking and taking my food to work instead of eating out all the time. I have always liked to snack on fruit and nuts so it was easy to pack that kind of stuff in my car. I didn't realize how much more difficult it is to stay on track during the winter months seeing as though it's my favorite time of the year, but my workouts truly slowed down. I wasn't prepared for the "holiday eating" we do without thinking about it. Anyway, just thought I would check in and share what's going on with me now versus starting out last year. Hope this finds everyone that replied to me in good spirits and continuing their own journey!

m m Welcome to SP. I too am on the night shift and I agree with JENNGIRL29. There food tracker isn't on a set time. Track at whatever time works for you. I plan/prepare my meals and snacks ahead of time. I try not to eat when I'm at work at night. Wishing you the best!!!

Hey there! I can relate a bit as I am a nurse and I work a lot of 3-11 or 11-7 shifts at the hospital. Idk if this will help, but can you treat the time that you wake up as your "morning" perhaps? For example, eating your breakfast when your first wake up and having your dinner sometime in the middle of the night? Do you plan your meals out and prepare them ahead of time? I would say be careful with what you bring to work to eat. I'm not sure if you are snack person, but watch what kind of snacks you bring. Don't bring foods that are unhealthy, high in fat or carbs. Are you using advocare products? The spark drink and / or catalyst would probably be pretty helpful for the long nights with the energy boost.
Idk... just some thoughts. I may not have been helpful at all. Just don't give up. You can do this!! I'm sure you will find lots of support on this site!! :)
Welcome to Sparkpeople Night shifts are tough but its doable. Its a good idea to have a look in the SparkTeams section and find a group for night workers. They will be able to give you lots of help and support. You can do this! Good luck.
Hello. I am starting this to keep my motivation up and my mind together. I am the heaviest I've been in my life and I'm tired. I'm tired of knowing so much about nutrition and exercise til its overwhelming, then not knowing how to fit it in my life to work for me. My body is tired of carrying around excessive weight. I'm tired of excuses, so I'm here asking for help. This site is exciting and informative, but can someone please direct me on how to fit this into a life of permanent night shifts? The food/excercise tracker is based on a day that is assumed to "start" in the am, I'm usually going to bed at 9am! I don't know how to keep up with these trackers that accurately reflect my day.
