I always find that strength training with perfect form and a slow to moderate lifting tempo is the best way to tone. Try lunges, stiff leg dead lifts, ballet squats, and dumbbell squats. I personally prefer using freeweights.
Remember, good form and using sensible weight is the best way to prevent injury! Also, don't skip cardio!

I consider my body a work in progress. I am now well over 6 years into my own journey and each year I continue to see changes. They come slower now (I will be 50 in a few months) than they used to, but I know that exercise (both cardio and ST) will always be a part of my life, so I might as well enjoy the journey.
I wish you well! Nancy

I've made progress through ST in losing inches...except above my knees & thighs. Any suggestions? My PT has discouraged me from running, but I can bike, walk, treadmill, use gym machines, free weights. What would be most effective?
