Do not judge your workouts by someone elses. Some of us are gym rats and love working out. Also remember that some people on here are putting down things like cleaning house or other things I don't think count. I would add some strenght training to your workouts. Just keep up the good work.

Measuring the value of exercise by the time you put into is creating a false value. The intensity of the workout and the quality is the way to evaluate exercise. If the quality is present by the choice of exercise performed and the intensity at which it is done is present then thirty minutes is more than enough time unless you are training for an endurance event. Using Tabata protocol exercise routines which are four minutes in duration you can complete a workout in 16 minutes by doing four repeats of the routine. Actually it will take a bit longer since you rest and recover 60 to 90 seconds between each sequence so make it 20 minutes. Add a five minute warm up and a five minute cool down stretch and you have thirty minutes.

Thirty minutes of an interval based cardio workout and you have done all you need to do for that workout.

More is not needed. I think it important to have a workout plan you can stick to. For me, its easier to get some workout in everyday. Then i keep to it more easily b/c its something i do all days. That means some days i'll spend more then an hour, and some days I only have 10 mins to spare. Keeping with it is more important how much. You can always make a short workout a big calorie burner

I agree with the previous posters that more isn't always better. If you aren't already, I would suggest adding strength training to your routine 2-3 times per week. You could probably cut the cardio back to one 30-minute session per day and then add the strength training and you'll be all set.

Qualitiy is just as important, if not more so, than quality. You can probably exercise at a higher intensity for 30 minutes than you could for 60. Do your 15-20 full out and you'll be fine.

No, SUMMERDAWNE... more time is NOT necessary.
If you are doing more than 45 minutes, you need to reassess and focus on challenging yourself more, not adding more time.

I'm doing what I can manage at this moment, which is around 30-minutes walking in the morning and the 5-15 minute videos for the Spring bootcamp (and I just added the 5-6 minute BodyRock beginner videos this week). So total, on a long day, I maybe have an hour total put into working out, but most, it's only around 45 minutes. Eventually, I would like to increase my walking time or the pace at which I go, but for now, this is working for me since I'm just starting out.

Morning everyone!
As I look around the forums, I'm daunted by the fact that many of you are working out for hours on end! Congrats!
I usually do 15 minutes on my elliptical in the morning & then 30 minutes doing cardio in the afternoon.
Wondering if I should be putting in more time? What do you guys think is a good amount to work out during the day?
